Catching Fire Audition Update
For those of you waiting on news for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire auditions, and would love to take part as an extra, here’s an update from Acting Auditions.
As they report, Catching Fire (Artemis 2) is due to be filmed in Atlanta, GA as well as the Hawaiian Island of Kauai.

The second film in a super-popular trilogy, “Artemis 2″, is now inpre-production and casting is officially underway in Los Angeles for new co-starring and supporting roles. The day players, extras, photo doubles, and stand-ins will be hired in the Atlanta, GA area where shooting will ake place. Additional casting will take place in Kauai. The studio is fast tracking this project because Jennifer Lawrence has a contract commitment with 20th Century Fox for a sequel to “X-Men: First Class” which starts shooting in January 2013. Filming on “Artemis 2″ will begin in late July, 2012 and run through December. “Artemis” took 4-1/2 months to complete principal photography.
Vienna, Austria born filmmaker Francis Lawrence will direct “Artemis 2″ from an adapted screenplay being rewritten by Academy Award winner Michael Arndt (from original drafts by Simon Beaufoy). Lawrence took over directing duties from Gary Ross, who co-wrote the screenplay and directed “Artemis”. Ross stated that he would not have the time needed to write and prep the movie the way he would have wanted to because of the fixed and tight production schedule.

The Hunger Games had a working title of Artemis .. it has nothing to do with the name of the movie, but was more of a project name (if that makes sense)
It makes sense still, because Artemis is like the goddess of hunting in greek mythology…

Artemis 2 is their “cover name”. The hunger games was called artemis. Now since this is the second movie, they call it artemis 2.
The only reason they are doing it is because they want to keep it a little bit secretive… The movie is still going to be called The Hunger Games: Catching Fire when it comes out.

im hoping mockinjay doesnt turn out in 2 parts. with harry potter it turned out great, twilights as stupid as always, but the hunger games. it’d be nice but mockingjay is not as big of a book as deathly hallows, and cant we please stop with everybody making everything into 2 parts. seriously does anyone agree that we’d be spreading thigs thin with 2 parts to mockingjay. and no one, NO ONE, would be able to wait that long to the 2nd part of mockingjay. no one. youd die of anticipation.

Artemis was the goddess of the hunt. She used a bow and arrow. Artemis=Hunger games. Artemis 2 = Catching fire. It is like a code name for the movie. When Karen Gillan auditioned for the role of amy pond in doctor who, she had to say she was auditioning for something called panic moon, which is an anagram of companion. This was becvause it was a really big thing and had to be kept secret. It is the same with the hunger games.

1) Rue’s part was already taken and made ever since the first Hunger Games movie, I doubt they’d need a twin or extra of Rue.
2) Your probably better off auditioning as one of the tribute sibilings during the “Victory Tour” scene that I’m not so sure of.
3) Next time you audition, send a written resume of the most REECENT picture of you to one of their auditioning addresses. Trust me, I’m not sure if it’s even worth auditioning.
You still can try auditioning if you wish, I don’t know where you can audition and there’s many requirements, besides; it’s not just another “oh, I’m in a movie” type of saying, you’ll be working through fall, and not sure if they’d allow you unless your given permission and some sort of schooling. I don’t know too much about auditioning, but trust me when I say this; if you don’t have acting experience (Even if you look almost or exactly like one of the characters), I doubt you could get a part.

Hello, my name is Alex i am 17 years old but going to be 18 on November 30th,dark blonde hair, blue eyes,white. i really enjoyed the first film watched it over and over again. i know i wont get the part but i will at least try, im 5 ft 9 and i studied animal care course for a year and then decided to quite that dream and go for something adventurous like joining the army but i really dont think i can get it you have to live life at the fullest. im normally a shy person but after a short while i can overcome my confidence. i feel like there are probably people out there better then me i do have a language problem but im trying to fight it. i can understand what people tell me to do really well and that if you ask me to do a job or change anything i will do it. Applying for an audition isnt about how great you are its also about how you feel towards the movie, it how you act it you need to put alot of emotion into it too i maybe not like other people but im not as ‘strong’ as other people. i have recently looked at the army jobs but i don’t think im cut out for it really but i will try as well but more likely fail but that’s life isn’t it? you cant always get what you want no matter how you try. the reason why i chose animal care at college is because i really showed to myself how affectionate i am towards animals and others, i have got a merit in that criteria and 2 extra A levels for working in a safe environment and working well with others. i have done my Duke of Edinburgh bronze and silver awards it was tough but i managed to do it in my team as a sort of ‘family’ if you say we all took care of one another even though it was the first time we did it. My school life was awful for me been bullied constantly but i managed to stay in and pass my grades. Im not trying to make you feel sorry for me i just wanted to tell you that i can finish the task and I do know there are far better people out there maybe cut out for this audition. But at least i tried to explain why i love how my life was bad at first but slowly in time getting better. The Hunger games is one of the best, beautiful and amazing movie of all time some parts made me cry when Rue died i just felt like i should of jumped infront of that spear to save her i would risk my own life to save another really but anyway I hope that you find someone that fits the part in Catching fire or Morkingjay.
