i’m a huge fan of zooey but i dont think she can pull off a nice sweet annie. zooey’s more of a comedy character & i cant picture her being shy, sweet and quiet or enclosed but oly opens up to finnick.

Based on what I recall of Annie – long brown hair and large sea green eyes – Elizabeth Olsen hands down. But she is such a minor role, that I think they can work with just about anyone.

I honestly don’t think that they’ll cast Annie for this movie. After all, in Catching Fire all you do is hear her voice. I doubt that they’ll want to pay big bucks for someone to dub a few lines in studio. My guess is they’ll hire a voice actress to do that and not worry about casting the role until Mockingjay.
NO! They have to cast her ! She is at the reaping too. That part is actually very important because then you also see Mags volunteering for her.
I actually think the other Reapings are something that’s going to be cut. I can see them just having a line in about Mags volunteering to be the tribute. Kinda like Katniss is the one who found the Mockingjay pin to give to Prim. Mags volunteering is not something we actually need to see. We just need to be told it happened. Time wise this is a cut that totally makes sense. After all would you rather see 2-3 minutes of ye olde reaping or 2-3 minutes extra of them developing one of the primary relationships? I’m betting they cut this in favor of more Katniss/Peeta or Katniss/Gale.
but I think in Catching Fire they need to put scenes about Annie like thoughts or dreams of Finnick, well it will be more romantic because only the voice? it wouldn’t be atractive and Catching fire is not just about Katniss and Peeta, it tells the history of all tributes. If they cut that scenes, the Quarter Quell isn’t emocional:(
But all we know in the book is what Finnick tells us and then Peeta fills in about Annie being the person who was reaped from 4 for the Quarter Quell and that Mags steps in for her. Annie is shown very briefly during the district 4 reaping, but that is it. If the actor hired to play Finnick is any good at all he should be able to convay how much Annie means to him in the mockingjay section of the arena and in the final scene where he’s asking Plutarch to go get her.
After all, that’s how we learn about Annie and Finnick in the Catching Fire book. Frankly there is so much information in the book that I want to see, some of which is likely to be cut for time, that adding extra Annie and Finnick moments makes no sense to me.
While I like Annie’s character I really don’t expect to see her until Mockingjay. When her character first really appears in the books.

That would be such a huge mistake. The reaping is incredibly interesting, and I think they should have it more prominent in the movie, where they won’t be limited by Katniss’ narration. It would also give us the first glimpse of all the previous winners, with memorable and poignant moments like Cecilia’s three children running up to her, and particularly the moment when Mags volunteers for Annie. It’s such a poignant moment and would work wonderfully in a movie – when you see an unstable young woman, and then you see someone volunteering and it’s an 80-year old who walks with a stick! Who obviously knows she’s going to die there, and just wants to save the girl.
I think they should cut some of the wedding preparations and shorten the first part of the book, and focus on the reaping, the personalities of the previous winners (who are all such a sad picture of what Hunger Games do to people!) and the games themselves, intercut with the rising rebellion in the districts.
In a way, I agree that Annie won’t have such a big role in Catching Fire, but she’ll have to appear somewhere. She’s pretty important in Mockingjay and I’ll think it’ll just be random if they pop in Finnick’s lover in the last movie
True, but… i think they should concentrate, at least, a little on Finnick’s true love. I mean, there should be more of her, like maybe dreams. I think they should concentrate on the main tributes’ life other than the games too. Maybe like Johanna. They should tell us that she’s got no one she loves. Same goes for Finnick. They should concentrate on his life and, well, Annie is the most important persone to him… cute…
I think that Zooey Deschanel would be a great Annie.
Maybe she is a bit too old (it all depends on who they cast as Finnick) but still almost all of the other actors are older than the characters they play, and with the right makeup they can fix any thing!
I have to go with Zoey Dechanel she is great as Jess on New Girl and In 500 days of summer i think she can easily play Annie she has her spirit and kidda is like Annie in all the roles she plays…though i do love nina dobrev but i just dont see her as this charecter.

I think I’ve now realized that if Zoe Deschanel doesn’t get the part, I would also live Alexis Bledel. So hard to choose though. If it came down to the two of them I would most likely be stuck.

At first I was thinking of Astrid Bergès-Frisbey or Emmy Rossum but out of everyone, I think Elizabeth Olsen. Her brown hair and green eyes,yes, but her face. It’s really innocent and fragile kinda like annie’s. I also imagined her small and petite. I think Elizabeth can act out Annie well.

I don’t know really, but I think Emma Roberts would be a nice Annie. Zooey is actually my first choice, but I would really like to know what age the casted Finnick will be.
I know this sounds a bit weird, but I think all these people are too pretty to play Annie. I see her as a nice-looking but somewhat ordinary girl, nothing special. I think this makes her and Finnick’s relationship more interesting because it proves that Finnick is not the vain airhead he appears to be – he’s got truckloads of gorgeous capitol people throwing themselves at his feet, but he ends up choosing the normal girl back home. Annie’s not supposed to be the hot one, Finnick is… and it would be nice for a ridiculously beautiful character to be chasing after an ordinary one for a change. (it’s usually the other way round)

Zooey Deschanel is a terrible choice! She’s a one-dimensional actress who only knows how to play the cute, manic pixie girl that is clumsy yet adorable. That doesn’t sound like Annie at all.
Anyway, there’s a big chance Annie won’t even appear in Catching Fire. They’ll probably cast her for Mockingjay but it’ll be a no-name actress since I don’t think she’s going to be in a lot of scenes.

I think Emmy Rossum is perfect for Annie. She has that sweety, dainty look and I do think she can pull of the role of a person who isn’t quite right in the head, as Annie.

I think Alexis Bledel would be the perfect Annie! She’s a great actress and could definitely capture Annie’s sweet and innocent nature. The only bad thing going for her is her age, but she totally looks like, 10 years younger than she actually is lol. On the other hand, Zooey is starting to really look her age as pretty as she is. Astrid looks like Annie, though I haven’t seen her in anything so I can’t judge her acting skills. She seems relatively unknown though, so that’s good.

i agree with Me they should show all the other tributes to because they all are important in some way!and it’s not just about katniss and peeta and them in the games and her romance with him and gale it is sooo much bigger than that!i think they should at least show finnick,wires,beete,and mags at the reaping along with peeta and katniss maybe not ALL the other tributes but the ones that have an important role in the movies at least!and they also have to include madge in the story at some point im actually really mad that they said prim gave her the pin! because without madge (SPOILER ALERT!)HOW DID KATNISS END UP IN THE MAYORS HOUSE AND SEE THE UPRISING IN DISTRICT 8 IN CATCHING FIRE?!
Madge is a really minor character and the story is perfectly fine with her being completely left out. She doesn’t really do anything of note in the books except give Katniss the mockingjay pin – and Katniss getting the pin from Prim is much better and makes it a stronger symbol. And there are plenty of ways Katniss can learn about the uprising, and plenty of ways they can show the uprising – especially since they aren’t constrained by the first person point of view.
I’m more upset that Lavinia the Avox girl was left out (but at least Darius has to be in the movie!). And I hope they give attention to most of the tributes, even the minor ones like Cecilia (the woman with 3 little children) or the two morphlings show the cruelty of the games. The morphlings, Haymitch’s alcoholism, Annie’s madness, possibly Wiress’ problems as well, are all examples of how the Arena damages people.
Yeah, Madge might not do anything big in the books but I think it was a huge mistake in not making her a character in the movie.. I mean Katniss even says herself that Madge and Gale were her only friends in the first book.. And in the second she goes over to Madge’s house and sees the uprising in D8! I guess they could add her in the second movie and say her and Katniss became friends after they won the games.. But still there is sooo much history with Madge! Her mockingjay pin was her aunts who was also Katniss’ mother’s bestfriend! Kindof a mistake by leaving her out I think..

im reading all these comments and no one said the perfect person for the role, summer glau! Think about it, she has been in firefly, terminator and even more great shows and movies. She is totally typed casted and catching fire will be another movie that she will make to an unforgettable book and movie series.

If you type in bing images, “Annie Cresta Casting” it will come up with lots of pictures of her. She looks the part, she looks innocent and I KNOW that she could pull it off!
I really want astrid berges frisbey to play Annie because she has that innocent yet broken face plus shes really beautiful
People keep mentioning “innocent” and I think that is an important quality for Annie, but we also have to remember that she is a victor in the hunger games. She’s frightened and confused, but there should also be an undercurrent of unpredictability and potential fierceness.
Aside from that, just in my own head, I picture her as kind of wiry and angular in the face- too eaten up with her worries to have much of an appetite.

There is no need for fierceness to Annie because being fierce isn’t why she won her games. She won because she was the best swimmer after the dam broke and the arena flooded. She went insane after seeing one of the tributes get beheaded. She didn’t kill anyone.
Most of what you say is true, however, we can’t assume she didn’t kill anyone. We don’t know that.
We don’t know that she didn’t kill any other tributes, but its highly unlikely. she couldn’t even bring herself to vote yes to putting the people that destroyed her in the Games. i highly doubt she even took a swipe at them. she hid and swam
Come again?! You got things seriously mixed up. They were voting to have another Games to kill the innocent CHILDREN from Capitol out of REVENGE. That’s not “even”, that’s monstrous.
That’s far cry from killing people who are trying to kill you, in self-defense, so you can survive. Of course nobody in their right mind and with enough humanity left would sincerely vote for that (I hope you realize that Katniss and Haymitch only did that to fool Coin, and Katniss then took steps so nothing like that could happen, by killing Coin). Peeta was adamantly against it, and he DID kill people (Brutus in the Quarter Quell, finishing off the girl from D8 in the 74th Hunger Games, and he participated in killing Cato), and said from the start, in the rooftop scene, that he would kill if he had to. Annie believed Finnick would be against it if he were alive, and he has no problems killing people (like the guy from District 5, I believe, who swam first to the Cornucopia). And even Beetee was against it, though not for humane reasons but for practical ones. Beetee, who, as we know all too well, had no problem killing a bunch of potentially innocent people if it helped winning the war – he was the one who devised the “death trap” bombs with Gale.
i’m just saying its highly unlikely that she would kill anyone, you’ve read the books. and im sure that at some point someone says something about her not being able to win the games without finnick. annie is obviously fragile. no need to go all crazy about my comment, i said it in a polite way voicing my opinion. u reply like a pmsing thirteen year old. just saying
It’s highly likely that she would kill, like most Tributes when they have to. And nobody ever says anything about her not being able to win the Games without Finnick, which wouldn’t make sense since Finnick, obviously, wasn’t with her in the Games. Annie is fragile since she went insane, she wasn’t always insane. And she manages to go on as a single mother in the end, so she’s not that fragile.

Just out of interest, are you trying to sound sexist, ageist, or just illiterate? Or are you mostly aiming for the irony with the “polite” comment?
I think Elizabeth Olsen, Antonia Thomas, and Emmy Rossum are all very good candidates. But if I had to choose one, it would be Elizabeth.
Astrid is only innocent in POTC4, on the other hand she is a good actor on her french movies. Team Astrid all the way!
Right off the bat, I say no to Emilia Clarke, Leighton Meester, Evan Rachel Wood, Nina Dobrev, Amanda Seyfried, Antonia Thomas and Camillia Belle. While they’re all fine actress and could look the part, there’s just a certain quality about Annie that I can’t see in any of them. Also, I think Zooey Deschanel and Alexis Bledel are a bit old for the part, though they still look quite young. Similarly, Gemma Arterton also has a rather mature face that, while lovely, doesn’t seem right for Annie. On the other hand, the suggestions of Elizabeth Olsen, Ellen Page, Isabel Lucas and Emmy Rossum struck me as pleasant surprises. I was a bit hesitant at first, but I think I could put my faith in any of them were they chosen. Astrid Berges-Frisbey is a tempting choice as well, especially now that Sam Claflin has officially been cast as Finnick, but I’m a bit worried that her French accent may get in the way, and the thing with Sam Claflin does strike me as a particularly cheesy bit of serendipity were she chosen. However, while Summer Glau does seem a bit obvious and predictable to the point of cliche, being a fan-favorite for any character who is mentally unstable, she gives me the clearest picture of Annie, and she’s my personal fancast and guilty pleasure.
I think Astrid would be perfect for the part. She’s got the looks; innocence, beauty, and could probably emit the character of a broken, crazy girl since her acting is quite good as well. In the Pirates of the Caribbean movie, she had short lines but depicted her facial expressions perfectly. Plus, Sam and Astrid already worked with each other in (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger’s Tide). And for the people who think she wouldn’t fit the part because of her accent, I find that it’s not overpowering. Her French accent is pretty suttle, and she knows how to and CAN speak the English language. So enough said.

i dont think astrid’s accent is a problem, because in the books at least, annie barely says any words. i think she is perfect

I’m preety sure Elizabeth Olsen will play Annie Cresta at Mockingjay. Here are my pesonal reasons.
1. She has GREEN eyes just like Annie!
2. Watch her movie “Martha Marcy May Marlene” which is the closest you got for Annie Cresta. Check this, ” Haunted by painful memories and increasing paranoia, a damaged woman struggles to re-assimilate with her family after fleeing an abusive cult.” Sounds familiar hugh?
3. Silent House involves some ear covering.

While I know it wouldn’t happen, I really think that Narnia’s lovely leading lady Anna Popplewell (Who played Susan Pevensie) would be absolutely perfect as Annie.
Not only does she have the capability to display the fierceness on the battle field, as we saw in Narnia, but she can play the sweet, vulnerable side beautifully. She’s totally who I pictured as Annie when I read the book.
I think that Astrid is perfect for the role. Zooey is not a fighter. I can’t imagine her winning a hunger games.
