Catching Fire location still up in the air
There’s been lots of news around about the Catching Fire location with the Hawaiian Island of Kauai believed to be where they film much of the Arena scenes. But a new report from the Honolulu Star Advertiser puts things in a more confusing light:
“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” will not be filmed on Kauai as mentioned here last week. Christina Gizoni, a Lionsgate representative, said in an email: “While we have not yet released the filming locations, Kauai will not be one of them.” Further comment was not forthcoming. Mea culpa. …
Yes, the filmmakers did scout Hawaii locations, prompting buzz online and in blogs since June about Kauai. But it’s a no-go. …
With filming expected to get underway in early September, I would imagine we would hear reasonably soon just where the Quarte Quell will be set.

They should film some part of catching fire or mockingjay in England. that is my opion mainly because i want to meet the cast. ESPECIALLY JOSH HUTCHERSON
agreed ,AGREED , agreed! although i dont think he should come i wouldent be able to stop myself……
It makes sense to me that they would put the Quarter Quell in a sound stage. Then they would have more control over everything. No animal wranglers would be required, control the temperature, the weather, etc. Maybe a few shots external but…these are now seasoned actors they are working with, no longer kids in their first movies. These folks can act in front of a green screen.
The realness of the external shots helped make THG very real for the actors, alot of whom were in their first movie.
Ok well I just think that Kauai is not very tropical. I hope they move it to like Honolulu because I’ll be vacationing there when they shoot!
This makes sense. Back about a month ago when Lionsgate announced their quarterly earnings, they said during the Q&A that the water shots in the Arena would be in a ‘controlled environment’ and therefore not that tricky to film. That sounded like a studio to me.
i dont care where they choose they are profesionals , aslong as it looks good and is a great film that does justice to the great books !
