What is it about The Hunger Games you love so much?
Living in my country where unfairness and hard situations are constant part of our lives, I feel very related to Katniss and the Hunger Games world. if anything, reading the books has taught me that there could be much worse situations, and that when put in a certain battle of choices, know how to make the right choice and evaluate the consequences of every action. the Hunger Games is an example of how we should all appreciate life and the little things we sometimes not care enough for, family, friends, allies, loves ones, and even enemies. no matter where you live in the world, we are all still humans struggling to live life in our own way.
Who is your favorite character in The Hunger Games?
My favorite character has to be Katniss, cause she is brave and strong and smart. She thinks with her brain first and her heart second, which I admire very much. for girls/women are always judged to be fragile and over sensitive but Katniss is not. She is a role model for girls and women. My second favorite has to be Gale, he’s a survivor.
What are your expectations for The Hunger Games movie?
I expect the movie will be satisfying. I already have made my own version of the movie in my imagination . The only thing has let me down so far is that Peeta’s eyes aren’t blue. I’m just worried about Katniss and Peeta’s future children not having the good genes, lol ;D
What’s your favorite quote?
“If I could grow wings, I could fly. Only people can’t grow wings,” he say’s. “Real or not real?”
“Real,” I say. “But people don’t need wings to survive.”
“Mockingjays do.”
That’s one of my favorites.

My name is Rebecca Jones. I live in Ontario Canada, I am 14 years old, and i think I’m obsessed with The Hunger Games
What is it I love about The Hunger Games so much?
I love the Hunger Games so much because its a book you just cant put down; its like 3:00 in the morning and I’m still reading because at the end of every chapter there’s always a cliff-hanger that makes me want to read even more! Suzanne Collins work has inspired me and the book makes me want to write one of my own! I love that fact how the book is so unpredictable. some of the books I read are all the same and you can guess what’s going to happen but not with the Hunger Games and that’s why i love the books so much. I cant wait until the movie comes out and i plan on buying tickets on Feb. 22 right when they come out.
Who is my favorite character?
That’s a tough for sure, but i would have to say my favorite character would be Katniss. She’s down to earth and she accepts the position of becoming a parent so easily when her father dies and her mother goes into a deep depression. I love the fact that when Clove is about to cut her up that she stares her down because she doesn’t like the comment about rue that she made, she stands for what she believes in and I respect her for that. She’s not spoiled or overly rich but she manages to make the best of it by going in the woods every morning with Gale (in the first book) Although i love Katniss i also like Johanna Mason and Mags, they make me laugh every time i read the series!
What are my expectation for the movie?
Well if it looks as good as the trailer I’m sure it will be amazing, i was a bit confused as how they didnt have madge in the movie though because in later books Katniss and her become friends and she plays a role in giving the morphling to Gale after he gets whipped in Catching Fire, but I’m not to worried about that. The movies look amazing and the characters fit perfectly i just hope they dont mess a lot with the script. I’m very excited to see the costumes and i hope they are as good and they replicate the ones that the book describes.
What’s my favorite quote?
There are so many quotes that i love the line of ‘ i decorate her body with flowers , covering the ugly wound. weaving her face. weaving her hair with bright colors. They will have to show it and even if they choose to turn the cameras elewhere, they’ll have to bring them back when they collect the bodies and everyone will see her then and know that i did it’ I love that part because she is explaining to the people in the capitol that she doesnt accept being in the arena and that she wants to show how wrong it is. how wrong it was to kill a child..to kill children. she rebels in a way but shes herself when she does because she knows its wrong and she knows that people do agree with her.
Things to add
Well im really excited for all the movies and im thinking of doing a short film with my friends of the Katniss and Johanna scene where she figures out its a clock. should be fun!

Haleigh LaBorde is 14 years old, is a huge fan of The Hunger Games and loves to write. She’s shared with us her piece written from the point of view of Katniss and Peeta’s daughter when they tell her about the Games.
What is it about The Hunger Games you love so much?
What I love about Hunger Games is that the characters are so alive and so brilliant, nothing that we’ve ever seen before. They truly bring the world they live in to life. And it’s not a happily ever after. After killing children and fighting for a cause that she’s not sure she wants to be a part of and that’s almost as inhumane as the one she’s fighting against, how could Katniss not lose her sanity? Another thing is that the book brought such heavy emotions out of me. These books made me laugh, scream, cheer people on, and cry until my eyes were bloodshot. I felt something with every word. Great books make you feel like you’re standing right by the character. Suzanne Collins wrote to such a degree of perfection that you feel like you actually are Katniss, struggling to make monumental choices and just trying to survive and save the lives of those you love. Hunger Games teaches you about life and about love, and reading them changed my viewpoint on the world. Even if we’re strong, we’re nothing without those we love. Even someone as strong as Katniss needs people she cares about to truly live.
Who is your favorite character in The Hunger Games?
My favorite character has to be Peeta. He’s such a real person, and he realizes what the Games do to you before even Katniss does, declaring he doesn’t want to be changed. He understands what it means to be human, and he knows that winning the Games aren’t worth it if he changes to something he hates. He knows exactly what he stands for, and he knows that to deny the evil in the world, you have to hold on to the things you stand for. He’s got such strength and love in a place that seems bleak and hopeless. He knows what the consequences are of living without love are from his parents. What really shows his strength was his hijacking, how he came back from that to be the person he wanted to be. And he gives Katniss of all people the promise of hope.
What are your expectations for The Hunger Games movie?
My expectations for the movie are so high it’s crazy! I want to see the world of Panem brought to life and see this message of what it means to be human. After they first announced the casting I was shocked because I felt like I knew the characters in my head and the people were so different than what I imagined. But Suzanne Collins and Gary Ross picked them all for a reason, and if they didn’t portray the characters the way they were meant to be portrayed they wouldn’t be in the movie. The trialer was everything I wanted it to be and I can’t wait to see the finished product! The only thing I really need out of the movie now is to stay true to the message. If they focus too much on the love triangle, which was just a subplot, they’ll lose the message that captivated all the readers in the first place, just exactly what being a human being on this earth means.
What’s your favorite quote?
So many quotes to choose from! I have a journal with my favorite quotes on this series alone. I think I’m going to have to settle for two: It takes ten times as long to put yourself back together as it does to fall apart -Finnick Odair, and: But there are much worse games to play -Katniss Everdeen (Mellark). Finnick’s quote is so true for all the characters, and for humans in general. Katniss never truly heals from the Games, even though it only took her sanity to snap in the few seconds of Prim’s death. Peeta will always have his flashbacks. Annie will forever be living in her arena. The power of what the Games do to the victors, how they dehumanize the subjects, is evident in that simple sentence. To understand what we as people have the capability to do is frightening. We need to know that we can never take it that far to comepletely ruin another human being. And yet, as if to counteract that, my other favorite quote shows that you can always recover. Katniss shows that there are worse things to be a part of, and that she has learned to live her life to recover from her horrible life before. She’s saying that while it’s impossible to forget the past, she can feel good again, which is so important for people going through tough times to hear.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Just that I love the Hunger Games so much. I read the series in less than a week, cried for two hours after the end of Mockingjay (my sister Kailyn thought I got stabbed I was crying so hard!). I own the pin, all the characters posters, the calendar, and have learned so much from these books. As an author, Suzanne Collins is one of the two I most aspire to write like. She is my inspiration for my original novel and I want to thank her personally for beautiful books she’s created.

What is it about The Hunger Games you love so much?
Despite the fact that the country of Panem and its citizens are part of dystopia in the distant future, the way Suzanne Collins portrays her character, they become entirely relatable. The first time I read the Trilogy, I was done before two days had past, I just couldn’t put it down! I, like so many other people I’ve heard from became obsessed! But Katniss was such a relatable character for me, I too was thrust into a role where I had to become an adult and take charge before I was even a teen, and I feel extremely protective of those I love. Plus I love archery!
Who is your favorite character in The Hunger Games?
Besides Katniss, I love Peeta. His undying love for Katniss is inspiring and breathtaking. He’s willing to go to any ends to protect her, regardless of whether or not she feels the same. And his fight in Mockingjay, to get back to his normal kind self, and to get back to Katniss, is admirable and heartbreaking at the same time. It would have been so easy for his character to give into the new memories that dominated his mind. But instead he fought because his love for Katniss was so true and ran so deep, that even the Capitol’s poison could not separate him from her.
What are your expectations for The Hunger Games movie?
You know I’ve been hearing a lot of talk lately about the concern people have the movies never stay true to the books, and they fear this will be the case with The Hunger Games. I however am not concerned at all. The fact that Suzanne Collins was brought in to review and approve the script reassures me that, even if there are changes, the movie will stay true to the heart of the story. I am so unbelievably excited for the movie!
What’s your favorite quote?
This is an extremely hard question. I have so many…
My favorite is probably Cinna, when he is holding Katniss’s hand before she launches into the stadium and says, “Remember Girl on Fire, I’m still betting on you.” Even in this extremely intense, frightening moment, Cinna provides Katniss with this huge gift, hope. Because suddenly, she’s betting on herself too.

What is it about The Hunger Games you love so much?
Hunger Games is everything I usually expect a good book to be. It has a unique storyline, lots of action, unexpected twists and a captivating but not overpowering romance line. All of it happens in a fantastic anti-utopian world. I also love how deep the plot really is and how it makes the reader think, and rises some philosophic questions about human nature. Are we really able to sacrifice children for our own sake, and kill eachother if we need to? Could a story like this one actually happen?
Who is your favorite character in The Hunger Games?
Katniss. She is a survivor, a very strong character that also never lets others manipulate her, and never lets down her feelings to become an emotionless killing machine like some other tributes.
What are your expectations for The Hunger Games movie?
I don’t allow myself to hope that the movie will be as amazing as the book but I expect it to be at least very good. I’m very pleased with the choice of actors (Jennifer Lawrence really became Katniss to me after I saw the reaping scene in the trailer).
What’s your favorite quote?
I have alot of those
“I am not pretty. I am not beautiful. I am as radiant as the sun.” – Katniss Everdeen
“You’re still trying to protect me. Real or not real,” he whispers.
“Real,” I answer. “Because that’s what you and I do, protect each other.” – Peeta and Katniss
“I always channel my emotions into my work. That way, I don’t hurt anyone but myself.” - Cinna
“Shut up and eat your pears!” - Katniss to Finnick
“Because something is significantly wrong with a creature that sacrifices its children’s lives to settle its differences. You can spin it any way you like… But in the end, who does it benefit? No one. The truth is, it benefits no one to live in a world where these things happen” – Katniss.

My name is Colleen Lamanna. I am 13 years old. I am from Canada and I spend most of my time obsessing over the Hunger Games.
What is it about The Hunger Games you love so much?
What I love about the Hunger Games is that it is unlike any other book! It isn’t a cliche book. It doesn’t follow the usual “teen story” where the boy falls in love with the girl and they all live happily ever after. The Hunger Games is different, it’s captivating with every twist and turn on every page. I love all of the characters that Suzanne Collins has created. They aren’t just characters they are so much more, they feel real. The depth of each character makes you feel sad when their sad, scared when their scared and emotional when they’re emotional. Suzanne Collins has created a rare story where you feel like you’re standing right beside Katniss at every step in her journey. It really makes you wonder what our world could become if we continue on the track we’re on now with pollution, poverty and war. I admire Suzanne Collins for what she has done, she has opened my eyes to how the rich can overpower the poor.
Who is your favorite character in The Hunger Games?
My favourite character in the Hunger Games is Katniss. There aren’t that many books out there with female main characters that are strong, brave and full of will-power. Most female characters are at the mercy of the male characters, but Katniss is different. She stands up for what she believes in and fights for the freedom and peace of a world gone wrong. I always enjoy characters who I can relate to and learn from, Katniss is an inspiration for my life. From Katniss I’ve learned that it takes more than brains to achieve your goals, it takes a spark that ignites the power to do what you want to do no matter what others say.
What are your expectations for The Hunger Games movie?
My expectations for the Hunger Games movie are huge! With the incredible cast and director I have no doubts that the movie will be great. They have already done such a great job with the casting and the trailer, I think the movie will be impressive. From what I have seen so far about the movie I expect it to exceed my expectations and blow my mind. The things I have seen so far have completely taken me by surprise. When I was reading the books I just couldn’t picture any movie doing the books justice, but the things I’ve seen have begun to change my mind. I’m starting to see how the scenery and characters are coming to life and I can’t wait to see every detail transform into reality.
What’s your favorite quote?
My all time FAVOURITE quote is: “Only I keep wishing I could think of a way to…to show the Capitol they don’t own me. That I’m more than just a piece in their Games”-Peeta Mellark because this is the point in the story where the games truly begin for Katniss. Before this point the games were only a thought but when Peeta says this it hits her that The Hunger Games is reality. She finally realizes that she doesn’t want to be a piece in the games for their entertainment, she wants to show the Capitol that what their doing is wrong. Katniss decides she will do anything to stop them and get revenge.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I am a huge fan of the Hunger Games I can’t stop reading the books over and over. The books have become such a big part of my life, I can’t wait to see the movies. I draw and paint things to do with the Hunger Games, I make stop motion movies about it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WG1grTymvtg), I’m obsessed with it! I even have a lot of Hunger Games memorabilia like the all important Mockingjay pin, the books of course, the Movie magazines, etc. When ever i check My Hunger Games i get more and more excited to see this movie coming together.

This week’s Hunger Games Fan of the Week is Danielle Lewis from the U.S.
What is it about The Hunger Games you love so much?
The Hunger Games is definitely my favorite series. I love how Suzanne Collins portrays the characters so well that you can really hate them so deeply and love them so truly. I did not put the book down unless my mom made me. I cried so many times, some tears of joy, and some of sorrow. I never thought I would like a violent book, but The Hunger Games is so much more than that. Anyone can relate to it because of all the feelings. The courage and strength of Katniss, the passion and sensitivity of Peeta, and the fire of Gale. I was hooked.
Who is your favorite character in The Hunger Games?
Peeta Mellark is my favorite character by far! I spend all day thinking of him! He is so perfect. His love and passion for Katniss is just so breath taking. In The Hunger Games, he was so willing to give his life for Katniss. In Catching Fire, he showed that again, and now knowing that the love was real. In Mockingjay, I cries so many times at his attempts to get back to the normal Peeta after being highjacked.
What are your expectations for The Hunger Games movie?
I think The Hunger Games movie is going to be amazing. All the fans have been waiting for something more after the books, and this is it. I cannot wait! I check thehungergamesmovie.com every day to see how many days, hours and minutes. I think they chose
great actors for the leads. They have really astonished me and I know they will even more when the movie comes out. I have seen Josh Hutcherson in many movie before when he was younger and really enjoy his skills. The little I know of Jennifer Lawrence has all been great information. Liam Hemsworth really does shine through as Gale.
What’s your favorite quote?
I have so many favorite quotes. I am actually in the middle of designing a jacket. It has Peeta and Katniss quotes on the back. I can’t fit all my favorites in though. I especially like:
“Only I keep wishing I could think of a way to…to show the Capitol they don’t own me. That I’m more than just a piece in their Games”
“So after, when he whispers, “You love me. Real or not real?” I tell him, “Real.”
“You’re a painter. You’re a baker. You like to sleep with the windows open. You never take sugar in your tea. And you always double-knot your shoelaces.”
“So that day, in music assembly, the teacher asked who knew the valley song. Your hand shot right up in the air. She stood you up on a stool and had you sing it for us. And I swear, every bird outside the windows fell silent…and right when your song ended, I knew – just like your mother – I was a goner.”
“It’s not necessary. My nightmares are usually about losing you,” he says. “I’m okay once I realize you’re here.”
“And then he gives me a smile that just seems so genuinely sweet with just the right touch of shyness that unexpected warmth rushes through me.”
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I think am one of the biggest fans. I reread my favorite scenes through out the book (that I marked) every night. I think about it all day. It has literally taken over my life. Everything reminds me of it. I love The Hunger Games and Peeta Mellark.
If you want to be featured as our fan of the week, check out our Fan of the Week page to find out how to sumbit your details or head the MyHungerGames Facebook Page, and post to our wall. We love hearing from fellow Hunger Games fans and would love to know what makes you such a huge fan.
My name is Zoe Allen, and I’m 12 years old. I’m from the United States of America. I attached a picture of me as Katniss for Halloween (Yeah, I know! It was a LONG time ago!) Everyone got completely disgusted when they figured out I had put real mud on my face. I just said “Uh. If your gonna be like Katniss, might as well be the real deal!”
What is it about The Hunger Games you love so much? I love The Hunger Games because they inspired me to follow my heart. To trust my instinct. Katniss was the ideal role model because she never let go, and believed in herself. She taught me to be strong and to keep following what you feel, because it might turn out good for you. The Hunger Games truly changed my life.
Who is your favorite character in The Hunger Games? Katniss Everdeen is my favorite character in the Hunger Games. She trusts herself, and follows what she thinks is right. She is a true model of everything you should want to be. Besides Katniss, my favorite character is Finnick. He pulls through, even though President Snow is literally forcing him into slavery. He does this because he wants to protect the people that he loves. It makes me happy to see him doing the right thing even though he is living in such difficult times.
What are your expectations for The Hunger Games movie? I expect the Hunger Games movie to be epic. Not as good as the book (nothing can be as good as the book) but it has a star studded cast that blows my mind. Jennifer Lawrence looks exactly as I pictured Katniss. Josh Hutcherson, though some people may have their doubts, is my perfect Peeta. Liam Hemsworth as Gale… well, I can’t wait to see it!
What’s your favorite quote? My favorite quote from the Hunger Games would have to be these: “I want to show them that I’m not just a piece in their games” (Peeta to Katniss), “Tuck your tail in, little duck” (Katniss to Prim), “May the odds be ever in your favor!” (Effie) and the lyrics to Rue’s lullaby.

The first My Hunger Games fan of the week is Madeline Mays, who dressed up as Katniss Everdeen at school! I think she looks absolutely amazing!
What is it about The Hunger Games you love so much? It’s unlike anything I have ever read. It has it all; action, drama, and even a little comedy. It is such a compelling story.
Who is your favorite character in The Hunger Games?
My favorite character (other than Katniss) is probably Cinna. He is so creative and is a good, loyal friend to Katniss when she really needs it. He is part of the reason she won The Hunger Games in the first place.
How did everyone react when you went to school dressed as Katniss?
I was surprised by how many people actually knew who I was! It was great! A lot of people came up and told me that I looked exactly how they pictured Katniss in their minds.
Which bit of the movie are you most looking forward to seeing?
I am most looking forward to seeing the Reaping where Katniss sacrifices herself for her younger sister. I’m also looking forward to seeing the “muttations” part of the movie. I am counting down the days until the premiere!
And your favorite Quote?
“May the odds be ever in your favor” – FAVORITE QUOTE FROM BOOK!
