Chloe Moretz Hungry for Hunger Games
We totally get where Perri Nemiroff is coming from when she writes in Shockya.com that since reading The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, she’s been hanging out for news on the Hunger Games Movie.
Perri was at Scholastic’s event during Book Expo America back in May, where Suzanne Collins gave a sneak peak of the Mockingjay. At the same time it was announced that Lionsgate was hoping to have a director for the Hunger Games movie by this summer and go into production early next year. There’s been no word on a director yet, although screenwriter Billy Ray is working on the script.
As Perri says, since then quite a few sites (including this one) have been speculating – and suggesting – who should lead the film as Katniss Everdeen. Perri says out of all of the names that have been put forward, there’s one that’s missing — Chloe Moretz, the young actress that starred in ’Kick Ass’, told Perri that she’d love to play Katniss.

…. I couldn’t help but to ask if Moretz had ever read The Hunger Games. She knew exactly what I was getting at and didn’t even answer the question, she just said, “I really really want to be in it.” The enthusiasm continued when I suggested she’d be perfect for the lead role. “I would so so so so so love to be in this film.” She added, “It would be such an honor to be in it.”
So what do you think of Chloe Moretz as Katniss? Perri points out that she’s a hot commodity in Hollywood when it comes to playing a young girl with a little edge. There’s also the advantage that while Chloe is still quite young (13 years old), if all three books end up being adapted for film, she’ll be able to grow with them.
I think she’s a pretty good fit…let us know what you think.
Sorry, but, no effin way! Does that mean she hasnt even read it?! And she’s way too young! AND she can never look anything like Katniss!!! I will be SO disappointed if she gets the part. >:/

If Chloe were cast, she wouldn’t have as many hours to film because of the child actor laws. And she would be the main character! I’m sure Lonsgate would be a bit iffy over Chloe because of that. Even more reason why she shouldn’t be Katniss! More money for the budget because of less working hours for THE MAIN CHARACTER. Also, I can’t see any of the popular picks for Peeta getting the role if Chloe Moretz is cast for Katniss. The age difference is too big and gross. William Moseley, Hunter Parrish, Sterling Knight, Alex Pettyfer, Lucas Till…they’re all in their twenties.They’d have to get over it and film it, but really, that would be so awkward, for Chloe and Hunter or any of the other popular Peeta picks. Also for the popular Gale picks; Gaspard Ulliel, Aaron Johnson, Drew Roy, Adam Gregory, whoever else I forgot…they’re almost ALL in their twenties. Chloe’d have to kiss two guys who are over ten years older than her. And what about the Finnick scene in the training center? Omigod, no. >.< And seriously, the media would be all over that. I don't know if Lionsgate would risk it.That would just not be okay. D: I wouldn't be surprised if someone sued Lionsgate or there was a protest against Lionsgate because of the kissing scenes. >.<
I also have a theory: If Lionsgate wanted to cast Chloe, they might re-write the script to make Katniss younger or something. So then Prim would be younger. And then they would mess up the whole book. It just won’t work.
Kaya Scodelario should be Katniss, not Chloe. Watch this, she is SO Katniss:

i don’t know about her acting but she doesn’t look right. i’m sure that could be changed and that they could find a peeta and gale closer to her age. (i don’t think anyone should ever cast 20 year olds to play 16 year olds anyway) but thay should only do that if she can act as the perfect katniss. by the way katniss has black hair and gray eyes, not brown.
She’s too young. When I first started reading your post, I thought she was trying for Prim. I think she would make a terrible Katniss. Katniss needs to be older, bottom line, and look like she’s had a rough life. This girl doesn’t look like that at all!
No way on Chloe for Katniss….. maybe she’d be perfect for Prim but that’s it!

Hair and eyes aren’t a big deal, they have hair dye and contacts, but her face isn’t right. However… Katniss is supposed to look a little young for her age.

Ya!!! Unknown is best!!!! Like me!!!!! And where does it say in the books that Katniss has black hair and grey eyes??? I know Gale does but i never saw that she did to!!!
A couple more things to add… Chloe’s not a terrible actress, butit would be such a dishonor if she got the part. The post from hana is COMPLETELY true!!! And as a reply for Ashley’s last post, for the sake of your understandment of the Hunger Games, plase reread the books because it says it over and ovr again that she has black hair and gray eyes! From Em’s first post, I got another idea… the kisses WOULD be very awkward, and they 20 year olds or HOW EVER OLD THEY ARE would be very uncomfortable, and no matter how hard they try to act it out, every kiss would probably come out tht way, awkward, so it would probably look fake and weird and even if it wasn’t, if it looked real and like Peeta and Gale really loved her… well, that would be even worse. And I would be the one to sue Lionsgate (for screwing up the best book in the world’s movie) .
yeah….. who am i kidding she would never be able to capture the real charm of katniss. She doesn’t even look old enough!! And i seriously think it would be a bummer for all of the fans if she did get the part. I know i would be dispointed=(
I think they should cast an unknown too. I think that Chloe is too young anyways. I just really hope they don’t ruin these books with bad actors in the movies.

I don’t think she’d suit Katniss, but I wouldn’t mind if she was in the film. She could possibly pull of Rue, or one of the other tributes.

As far as age is concerned she easily passes for 16+, as can be seen if you check out her ‘Ellen’ and ‘Tonight Show’
clips. She has the charisma and the edge to take on this
or any other role that actually calls for some real talent and acting ability. If you people get an unknown actress for this role and she sucks then you get what you deserve.

I still say no. Okay sure she has the talent and all, but her features are a little too soft to be Katniss. And I know she can look more dirty and stuff but I mean her jawline, her eyes, her nose, they’re more Prim than Katniss.

Location, location, location is the key. Unless you want to jumpstart the economy of a specific locality, picking the excellent location is by far the most troublesome decision to create.

that’s sort of pathetic. chloe moretz honestly thinks she can win the part of katniss? she’s thirteen. how is she supposed to pull off sixteen, even with all the makeup and hair dye in the world? I don’t think the film makers are going to take her seriously. maybe she’ll get prim or something. anyhow, she’s a good actor but I don’t like her. she says her family is so christian and that her mom would never allow her to say bad words at home, which is a joke if you’ve seen kick-ass.
