Meet the Debra Zane | casting director for The Hunger Games
The Hollywood reporter decided to take what they called the un-sung scouts – six of the leading women in Hollywood who find stars out of tens of thousands of head shots for leading films, including The Hunger Games.
The woman who has been behind many of the recent casting announcements for Catching Fire is Debra Zane. She has had the job of finding the actors that she thinks will best fit the major and not so major roles in The Hunger Games sequel.
Here’s what THR has to say about her:
Debra Zane‘s plate is filled with some of Hollywood’s highest-profile projects, from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire to Steven Spielberg‘s Robopocalypse. Her films from the past few years include The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Parts 1 and 2, the Ocean’s Eleven series, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Total Recall.
She had also worked with Gary Ross before The Hunger Games, on Seabiscuit and Pleasantville
As we reported back at the beginning of last year, when it comes to casting Catching Fire, Debra Zane and the rest of the crew including new director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson, won’t be conducting (and haven’t been conducting) “American Idol” style cattle calls. The way she works is to use professional channels to cast a wide net to find those relatively unknown actors that she thinks are ready for a break.
I think she’s done an amazing job. I love the cast they’ve put together so far and I can’t wait to see who else they’ve got in mind!

When do they start filming anyway? We must be getting close!
She has done a wonderful job! It was around Aug. 6 Josh said he’d be heading to Atlanta to start filming “in a couple of weeks.” So, they should be starting by to film by next week!! Exciting!!

She really is. All the castings she has made seem to be more and more perfect for their roles as the time goes by. I think she made very good, wise choices for these roles.
And yeah, Catching Fire should start filming in about a week or so
I don’t like who choose for Johanna . But I can deal with it , besides I’m pretty sure I will feel way when I see Jenna Malone as johanna .

I am a starting out acrtess and I am biggest fan ever of the Hunger Games trilogy and I had an audition for hunger games but my mother couldnt afford it. But now I dont know who to turn to anymore, I just need someone to know who I am and to please atleast give me a chance to reach my dream, please i really wanted to be the character “Bonnie” extemely bad, but i cant find another audition and i just need some help please.
