District 8 Tributes – The Hunger Games Movie
A new day and a new tribute announcement. Lionsgate has today revealed that Samual Tan and Mackenzie Linz will be playing the District 8 tributes in The Hunger Games movie.
Tan is a Hollywood newcomer, though he’s been in two films in the Phillipines. Lintz is also new to acting.
District 8 specializes in textiles and has at least one factory where Peacekeeper uniforms are made. Two people from District 8, Bonnie and Twill, escaped during one of the uprisings and explained to Katniss about the possibility that District 13 still exists, to which they are fleeing.
In the 74th Hunger Games the male from District 8 dies on the first day. The female tribute died later that night. She made the mistake of building a fire, which allowed the Careers to find her in the dark. Her camp was right next to Katniss. The cannon that signifies a death waited to go off, because the Gamemakers hoped the Careers would find Katniss. Peeta Mellark, who had allied himself with the Careers, caught on and insisted that the girl from District 8 wasn’t dead yet, so he went back to “finish the job”. When the cannon finally sounded, the Careers moved on with Katniss still hidden safely in the tree.
There are now only three sets of tributes to be announced — including Cato and Clove, the tributes from District 2. Both of these characters play bigger roles in the story than many of the other tributes. We’re guessing they will be the last tributes to be announced … but still, not long to go now!

I’m not sure why everyone is wanting tributes to look alike…. I think it’s better if tributes look different because many years after north America has a war- I would think different nationalities would have spread throughout everywhere meaning yes I would expect different tributes..
Lol lots of asian guys in this film as tributes. Better than non diverse ethnically movie.

Sarren16 I think the people saying they wanted the tributes to look alike, well me being one of them…… I for one meant within the districts! I don’t want every tribute to look the same, I like how diverse there making the movie, I just wish that they would have some similarities within the districts!!! Hope that cleared it up………..

i love the girl and wow i agree that after many years and wars the continect would have come to many different ethnicties. i think its cooler like this and they sorta do look like a good couple next to echother.

I know some of you guys think that all the races would mix in a district and make everyone look the same, but that’s not necessarily true. Sure, races mix, but people still have different gene pools. Even multiracial people do not all have the same combination just because they’re in the same region.
I think that all the districts have certain looks to them, I agree that I want the actors to look like the people from their District, which hasn’t really happened. Like District 4 was always known for the strawberry blonde hair and bluegreen eyes. The Seam was known for the olive skin, dark hair, and grey eyes, so much that Katniss said Gale could be her brother because they look so similar, and that upper class district 12 people had blonde hair and blue eyes. District 11 had people that had dark skin or were black, Cato and Clove had dark brown hair, paleish skin and Clove had green eyes, Glimmer had blonde hair. Some districts are known for their looks, that what I think, that the people who live in that region generally have similar traits which means their offspring generally recieved the dominant traits, the upper class of District 12 were obviously recessive traits, but if you lived in District 8 you would not marry someone from District 2, you would marry someone from District 8 so the traits would stay the same generally. Upper class recessive people married upper class usually with the exception of Mrs. Everdeen, Seam people normally married Seam people. Even in district 13 though the gene pool had gotten so small, the children were sickly and they were desperate for people from outside the district. So I hope you see what I mean.

More commenting on the description here. I never read it as the cannon waited to go off because Katniss was near – I thought the cannon was automatic. Katniss says over and over again that she knew so-and-so was dead because of the cannon. I’m pretty sure Peeta went over to finish the job so that the Careers would think he’s one of them. It had nothing to do with Katniss.
