EW on Casting Catching Fire
While we’ve now got word of who will be playing some of the major characters in Catching Fire including Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair and Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee, EW decided they’d try and get the jump on just who else would be good to see in The Hunger Games sequel.
Here’s a couple of their casting pics (be warned their are spoilers ahead if you haven’t read Catching Fire yet):
David Strathairn as Beetee: I know, Tony Shalhoub is rumored for this part. And to be honest, I’m not all that opposed to this casting. But, if it falls through and the Hunger Games casting agents need another opinion, might I suggest Strathairn of Alphas and The Bourne Ultimatum fame? Personally, I pictured Beetee a little older than Shalhoub, and I think that Strathairn could pull off the character’s twitchy vibe, yet still bring a bit of authority to the role. For some reason I just can’t picture Mr. Monk arguing with Caesar Flickerman over the legality of the Hunger Games.
Oliver Phelps as Darius: Who better as the young peacekeeper that stands up for Gale than a Weasley twin? And he has experience with losing body parts after getting his ear blown off inHarry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1. Becoming an Avox will be a breeze.
Rebecca Hall (The Town) as Cecelia: There’s something about her that screams helpless but also strong mother to me. Maybe it was watching her deal with Christian Bale’s multiple personalities in The Prestige. I could definitely see myself crying as this woman fights to untangle herself from her children following the Reaping.

It is still a rumor, though it is looking promising that they’ll be in Oahu for filming the Arena http://www.myhungergames.com/rumor-catching-fire-film-some-scenes-in-oahu
I like the idea of Rebecca, but Cecelia appears in like, 2 scenes in the book, and maybe less in the movie, so the actress getting the role will probably be incognito.
If they do cast Darius I dont think thell show him as an avox because in the first movie the avox girl wasnt in it so why have Darius as one.

Bill Shatner would be a good choice for Woof, as well.
I have no clue who any of these actors are. But it’s still cool knowing who is playing what character.
