Fan Art Friday!!!
Last week we missed Fan Art Friday, but this week we are back in full force. We have 2 videos to present this week so let’s get this party started!
First up we have Desiree. Here’s what she had to say about her submission:
My name is Desiree, and I teach a career preparation course for grades 9-12. For the annual Shakespeare Festival, my grade 11 students decided to take Shakespeare characters and act out what would happen if they were tributes in the Hunger Games. This video features Romeo and Juliet as Peeta and Katniss, Shylock as Haymitch, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth as Cato and Clove, and Cleopatra as Rue. I thought someone might find it interesting, because I do! I have the best students ever!
Here is Craig with his vocal arrangement of Rue’s Farewell. Here’s some info behind the video:
As a Vocal Music Education major, I’m working out a choral arrangement using Rue’s Farewell this summer. I created lyrics to fit the original recording, loosely based on the lullaby “Deep in the Meadow” by Suzanne Collins. I was trying to capture Katniss’ inner dialogue and overlay it with the visuals from the movie. To that end, I have created a working study of the my concept. I have timed the Lyrics to appear in sync with the original track (although it has been extended and a final Ending added). The finished work will be for High School mixed choir with solos, and Band. I hope to record an ensemble from my school late summer or early Fall. My goal is to make a new connection to kids that love the books (and movie) and love to sing!
You guys did great!! Thanks for sending it in. We hope to see a lot more Fan Art so make sure to send them into admin@myhungergames.com.

oh the second video made me cry i kinda want to ask permisson if i could make a video singing the song its so beutiful oh my heart hurts amazing amzing spectacular job well done
THE 2ND ONE IS SOOOOOOOOOOO SAD!!!!!!!!!! :’C
The first one was kinda cheesy and annoying but I love the second one!
I found the first one disturbing as the students seemed very zealous in their desire to KILL. Guess they were ALL careers.
The second one was haunting, and beautiful. The stanza fits perfectly. I found I wanted more, tho, at the end. It just suddenly stops. Saw this over 1 week ago and still think about it.
I think this ‘arrangement’ has potential to be THG theme song. Like to have someone like Kelly Clarkson pick it up, add to the verses. It could be THE ballad that WINS an academy award. Anybody have Kelly’s number? email? Twitter? Maybe we can send her the link to get her started. Needs a big voice!
I cried when I finished the books.
the first one is kind of stupid :/ but the second one
well done:)
The lyrics have been bothering me so I took a stab at changing them up. Let me know what you think.
Here is the place, dark overtook me
Here where I needed, a friend,
I will not leave you
Can’t make you stay,
Here with me, in this place
Where I need you
I’ll sing my sorrow, my tears will echo
Your death is hardest, my friend
Here is the place, I will honor you
Here where you saved me, my friend,
I can’t leave you
Can’t hold you now,
Fly a-way, far from this place
Where I loved you
I’ll sing my sorrow, Mockingjays will echo
Countless dreams of millions, tyrants can’t subdue
Faithful as a sunrise, we’ll make them true,
It’s time to stand as one, for justice and freedom,
We will fight for liberty; we will fight ’til all are free
I’ll sing my sorrow, Panem will echo
Those lyrics are beautiful. They made me cry!
I started to cry!!!
The 2nd video… Just… Wow. (: That’s my new favorite song.
