The Hunger Games Trilogy

There were literally times in The Hunger Games Trilogy were I was laughing, crying, and throwing the books across the room. (You did at least 1 out of the 3, be honest) Your Fan Question of the Week is:

“What was the most tension filled scene in The Hunger Games Trilogy to you? Why?”

For me I would have to say it was the walk through The Capitol in Mockingjay. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Now it’s your turn, you tell me. I am all ears….   :)

  1. Brittany says:

The only time I wept during the series was when Finnick died. I was like “NNOOOO!”.
I was also very emotional about Peeta losing both his leg and his mind. I was upset that the movie didn’t incorporate the amputation. So in a sense I metaphorically threw the book at the screen. Loved it though!

  2. Sara O says:

I think definitely it was when Finnick died. My heart broke, it was awful. I had to put the book down and take a break. Then after I finished the series, I had to detox. Seriously. And it was so sad, I got a little bit depressed. On a side note I also cried during the district 11′s riots. But I threw the book at the wall when Katniss says she thinks they should force the Capitol children to participate in the Hunger Games. I could not understand her reasoning for that at all.

    • Meghan says:

she said they should force the capitol children to participate so that she could get on coin’s good side so she could shot coin she didnt really believe the should do that

    • Dedalus says:

I too was shocked at first that Katniss agreed to the Games for the Capitol kids, but Meghan is absolutely right that this was simply a ploy to keep Coin at bay. I think it was also a turning point where Katniss realized that Coin was no better than Snow and had to be removed from power. She tried to sound convincing by saying that it was for Prim, but I could tell that what she was really thinking was that she would kill Coin for Prim. What a great book!

      • Dan says:

Do you think Katniss made the decision then or when she already had the arrow ready in her bow and confirmed Snow’s words in his eyes before taking the shot at Coin? I always felt she made the choice right at that moment.

  3. KEE says:

For me it was when Prim died , it literally cried my heart out!! I also had a emotional breakdown at the epilouge. But there are much worse games to play , that killed me !I went through a full rendidtion of “Deep in the Meadow, Rue’s lullaby” and cried and laughed at the same tine. Also I started rolling on the floor at the end of the first book. With Katniss and Peeta nearly eating the Nightlock berries. In the movie when they go ” Together … together.” I made a noise like a strangled cat. I alos love the feast and was screaming “YES ! YES! YES !”

    • KEE says:

But if I had to choose one , I’d choose the Nightlock scene at the end of the 74th games. ” Together.” I’m crying now. It doesn’t help when I’ve got Safe&Sound on in the background !

      • Amy says:

Safe and Sound is THE PERFECT song for Katniss and Peeta. PERFECT!

        • Apoorva says:

I was supposed to sing the Safe&Sound solo at a performance… But the person organizing changed the soloist last minute. It made me really sad and angry at the same time. The song is perfect for my voice. But I sang harmony instead.

    • breanne1234 says:

i cried too when prim and rue died! those were the most emotional parts for me!

  4. Stephanie says:

I don’t know if this counts, but after Prim died, I was messed up. Obviously, because Katniss was, too. It was just so…traumatizing.

    • Clove says:

I know, right. I started bawling and had to force myself not to tell any of my friends at school because they hadn’t finished it yet and I was crying.

    • Laney says:

i agree with you and think that after Prim died because Katniss was suck a mess and i felt really sad and and also kind of disappointing in her!!

  5. Dan says:

Prim’s death brought the tears and made me had to put the book down for a few minutes but interestingly enough, it wasn’t actually the exploding parachute scene itself that did it for me. When it happened, I think there was a combination of other things going on around it (ie Katniss’s back and face being literally on fire) as well as the shock/disbelief of her death that numbed me to it somewhat. But it really hit me during the scene with Katniss and Buttercup when she yelled at him that Prim wasn’t coming back and then lost it. I completely lost it with her…

Buttercup “protecting” Katniss afterward was a really nice touch.

    • Dan says:

I also just realized that after reading the lead-in to the question as well as the comments, I may have ignored the actual question in bold, haha…

In the regard, I have to agree with the original post; the entire Capitol scene at the end of Mockingjay was awfully tense, especially from the point where the mutts start hissing “Katniss” onward.

    • cheree says:

Me too cause that happened to me the exact same thing…cried for an hour!

  6. KEE says:

Prim’s death made me want to kill Gale! * The character* I mean , he and Beetee made the bomb that killed her! I agree with Dan . It was sad when she scremed at Buttercup. It killed me when she had a flashback to the reaping and she was telling Prim to let go of her. I can just imagine the movie. Katniss’s face going blank and Prim turning round about to shout. I think they should do that part of the movie in slow motion. That will make me cry so much.

  7. Kari says:

Probably for me in the books was when Peeta lost his mind and when he was taken away by the Capitol…I cried so much after that because Peeta is amazing. But during the movie was probably the cave scene and at the end with the nightlock berries and they were like, “Together?” “Together”
That was so sad and it moved me a lot…

    • KEE says:

      YES !! ” Together … together.” I put that ! I made a strangling noise !!! I was sooo moved !!!!

      • Amy says:

That scene in the movie was very well played…with Peeta touching Katniss’s braid…oh man, now I have to go see the movie AGAIN!

    • Peeta fan says:

When i tricked my friend in to telling me what happened when peeta was taken to the capitol and he got hijacked i didnt care then i read the books… threw the book at the wall then screamed peeta is too sweet i repeat TOO SWEET!

  8. Anastas says:

The cave scene, when Peeta hit the force field in the Quarter Quell, and when prim died.

  9. Amy says:

Waiting for Peeta to be rescued from the Capitol. Katniss and Finnick tying knots, tying knots, tying knots only to find out when he’s finally back and safe he has been so damaged that he believes he hates her. Knowing that all she wanted was to keep Peeta safe and she feels like she failed at that. Then for him to be back relatively safe and sound but not remembering what she meant to him…what they meant to each other was heart wrenching. At that point the tables turned…all along Katniss didn’t know how to reconcile her feelings for Peeta then when she finally gets on the verge of recognizing what he truly means to her he tries to kill her because of the Capitol. Ugh!

I cried more times than I can count in the second and third books. I sobbed openly when Katniss found out they didn’t get Peeta out of the second arena and again when she saw him on the screen for the first time in a room full of people and went up to the screen and put her hand on it. I wanted to throw the book when she was so mean to Peeta in the cafeteria and again when he showed up outside the capitol to be another soldier and he had to be kept under guard. Again with the crying when the others came up with the “real or not real” exercise to help him and whenever Katniss would talk with him I was on pins and needles…willing Peeta to remember.

The Lizard Mutts scared me…I read late at night and it was very quiet in the house and I SWORE I heard the whispers “Katniss, Katniss” I knew they’d be okay when Peeta woke up and told Katniss to run but was reduced to tears again when Finnick didn’t get out. :-( Beyond sad.

I know you asked for one moment but there are just too many…I LOVE these books and the characters they’ve introduced me too.

I love this site too…fyi. I feel like it will make the waiting a little easier. ;-)

  10. Lia says:

Tension-filled: the FIRST time I read the book (THG) towards the end with the nightlock berries; in CF – the fog-monkeys sequence and the lightening tree part near the end; MJ – well there was a lot of tension in that book to pick just one. On the topic of Finnick dying – I cried like a baby – and maybe I was just too cried out to react when Prim died, but I felt more for Finnick than I did for her. I thought his death was pointless (for the storyline – and Annie seemed too coherent at the end meeting for a final hunger games). I hope they change up the script so Finnick lives – hey, they changed Peeta losing a leg…

  11. KD says:

I thought the most tension filled part of the trilogy was when Katniss was prepping for the first hunger games, especially right before she went into the arena. When I was first reading the book, I had to take a break at the part because I think I found it not only too intense, but disturbing too. I thought the whole atmosphere of Katniss being in the hunger games was incredibly anxiety provoking and tense…how she could have been taken out at any moment. I think in some ways, the movie left that tension out a bit.

The part of the book that made me really cry was during the third book when Katniss finally realizes that her propos are affecting what they do to Peeta in the capital. The scene where she’s trying to record one outside and just can’t and then becomes really emotional with Haymitch for the first time about Peeta being in the capital and not knowing what is happening to him, not being able to protect him, etc…so sad!

  12. Mark says:

The scene where Prim died. It was the first time I cried while reading a book actually. Poor Prim. :’(

  13. Diana says:

Honestly, when Katniss would say that she chose Gale over Peeta it fusterated me. Like here you have this wonderful and outstanding guy that would do anything in the world for you because he loves you that much. But she was too stubborn to admit that she ACTUALLY LOVED HIM! Katniss did love Peeta but in a different way. And when Peeta lost his mind Katniss was a bitch to him. That made me want to knock a building over. Just saying.

  14. Grace says:

idk if this really counts cause its not tension filled or anything but and made me feel complete. it was the perfect thing to say.

“That what I need to survive is not Gale’s fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that.”

  15. Hailey says:

I had an emotional breakdown after and during the epilogue. It is just…. I don’t know. And also when I found out that Peeta was hijacked. I think that is really emotional. OH YEAH! I forgot about the time when Gale and Katniss are in her house, and he is like ” Maybe I will be like the Person in the hanging tree. ALways waiting.” with tears in his eyes.

  16. Sarah says:

For me, it was the connected scene between the second book when Peeta takes Katniss to bed in her room and she says “Stay with me.” She can’t understand what he says though. And then in the third book when everyone’s in the Capitol, Peeta’s going crazy and he tells all everyone to leave him. But Katniss says “Stay with me.” and Peeta says “Always.”

    • Sussie says:

I LOVED that part – after that I knew she would somehow find her way back to Peeta. even though the odds…

    • Dale says:

I have tears streaming down my face every time the ‘Always’ line is used in the books. I also love the scene on the beach and the times she takes out Peeta’s pearl in mockingjay. Finally real or not real at the very end sends me into a blubbering mess. I am crying now!!

  17. Angelina says:

When the mutts were running after Katniss and Finnick and Peeta and the rest of her team. I was literally like “OMFG JUST RUN JUST RUN THEIR COMING!!!” I was like OMG NOOOO NOT FINNICK HE JUST GOT MARRIED! That made me mad the ending of MockingJay made me so sad! I was almost at tears and whenever I almost Sang Rue song I did cry :’( Favoirte parts are the saddest sometimes!

  18. Bailey says:

Mine was def when katniss wanted to kill herself and wouldnt eat and was crying all the time. That was the only time i cried because she was so emotional and sad and i was a wreck!

  19. Peeta&finnick:) says:

It was sooo sad when Finnick died! Just after he got married and was about to have a kid :(

    • KJ says:

I think Finnick had to die BECAUSE we were all so invested in him…and, ultimately, this is a story about the horrors of war. People you love die, people who come home are scarred for life.

  20. odair says:

For me it has to be a scene in mockingjay It was when peeta had just been rescued and katniss runs toward him for a hug and peeta starts strangle katniss. I was like “OHH HOLLY” I think it was the most surprising scene because i didnt expect peeta to have been highjaked . I was also very sad and i had alot emotions on my face during that time.

  21. Peeta Fan says:

when Katniss relized Peeta was hijacked I was like,”no now they cant fall in love, get married and have two kids(oh wait they do)!” and when prim died i didnt really beleived she died i thought she would pop back up two chapters later and tell katniss she excaped of something.

    • Ashley says:

When I found out Peeta got hijacked, I went into some sort of depression for the next few hours. When Prim died, I was horrified. I cried it all out when I finished the book.

  22. canuslunar says:

In the first book when the capital released the canines and peeta and katniss noticed that the dead tributes’ eyes were the dog’s eyes. when I found that out I practically slammed my book shut with a shudder down my spine.

  23. Sarena says:

When Finnick started talking about how Snow used him in Mockingjay, I couldn’t tear my eyes away despite the devastation of the revelation. He was my favorite character, and his story just broke my heart–that became the second time I’ve ever cried while reading a book.

  24. LorettasAwSm says:

The part in the book that I thought had the most tension was at the end of mockingjay when she says that the nightmares don’t really go away and that she scared to take pleasure in anything for fear that it will go away and that she takes note of every good act of kindness she’s seen someone do. I thought about all those words for days and I still think about them and how sweet they are and sad at the same time that is my most tension filled part in the whole trilogy.

  25. sisalicious21 says:

I went into a state of depression after Rue died, she was one of my favorite characters. In Catching Fire I was upset when Cinna was beaten right in front of Katniss. I was sad when Finnick died so quick, he was one of the main supporting characters and he was going to be a daddy! My heart broke when the capitol hyjacked Peeta and I was in utter horror when he strangled Katniss. But what angered me the most is when Prim exploded right in front of Katniss. I was like “Why would you even think to kill Prim?” She wasn’t supposed to be at Snow’s mansion because she wasn’t old enough and even if she was Katniss would never let her go on the battle field. That’s why she shot Coin instead of Snow.

But death is death and it is what makes us appreciate the characters even more.

  26. erica says:

the most tension filled scene for me was in mockingjay. i was really sad when finnick died but i was on a boat when it happened and i didnt wanna cry in front of other people. when prim died i was able to hold it in, but when buttercup was crying for prim and then katniss started crying i coulndt hold the tears any longer and started cry.

    • Emma says:

I am with you there 100%. I was able to hold back all the tears, until the scene in mockingjay when katniss went back to her home in the victors village. Buttercup was there, and all she could say was ‘shes dead!’ before she started crying. (and so did I)

  27. Elle says:

There is just SO much tension in all of books, which makes them such good reads. I would say the first book, around the time of the feast, because you just don’t know whether Peeta is going to live or die and if Katniss will get to him in time. I remember it being about 4 am the first time I was reading that and I would NOT put it down and go to sleep!! I just had to know what happened, a close second would be the struggle between Katniss and Johanna at the end of Catching Fire, because it’s just so confusing and you don’t know what’s happening!

And can I just say, reading the whole “real or not real” at the end of Mockingjay just killed me. I died. I cried and cried and could not stop. It was crazy– saying goodbye to the whole series, to all of the characters, and it was just such a beautiful way to seal Katniss and Peeta together. Such an emotional experience!!

  28. Riley says:

I think most tension filled part for me was the walk down the capitol street. The saddest parts were when finnick dies and when clove dies. I know every one is gonna think im crazy, but i seriously want to marry clove

  29. serious says:

Um.. Maybe when Katniss killed Snow and Coin.. Also when Peeta’s almost die in Catching Fire and Finnick saved him!(Lol this is the best scene ever)

  30. team peeta says:

i litarlly threw the book across the room whil reading Mockingjay. it was when Peeta called Katniss a mutation!! i even cried!!!!!!!!!!! but i still loved it who wouldn’t

  31. Dale says:

As far as tension goes, the whole latter part of Catching Fire. Starting with the sexual tension in the beach scene, anxiousness when they’re separated in the jungle, confusion when Johanna attacks Katniss, and finally a state of panic over Peeta’s fate.

  32. Alia says:

I would have to say I threw the book across my room twice when finnick and Prim die. I really wanted to write a letter to Ms.Collins and ask her so many questions like why she decided to kill Prim and Finnick. I cried when Katniss said “Real” when Peeta asked “You love me, Real or Not Real”. I felt like she finally saw what was there for her the whole time. I laughed when Snow was killed. I thought he deserved it. He kept the hunger games going. But for the peacekeepers, don’t they want peace? They do, and where is their peace when they beat people up?

  33. Kelly says:

It killed me when Katniss ran into the room to see Peeta after he was rescued. Because I figured it would be this great reunion and Katniss would finally tell Peeta that she loved him. Then of course he goes for her and all I could think was “No! Not Peeta!”
I wasn’t shocked by Prim dying, I actually expected that.
My heart melted during the final “Real, not Real” exchange. And I also loved the epilogue because it shows no matter how bad things are in the present the future can be better.

  34. Jennifer says:

I couldn’t believe it, when Prim die, i mean everything that Katniss was doing was to protec her, and her mom, and at the end she dies.. i was like really? i was so mad, other thing I cry when i found out what the capitol did to Peeta, i mean he was so perfect, and i also cry in the beach scene, the most awesome scene in the whole trilogy, and i’ll never going to forge the last words of the book, “do you love me?, real or not real” ..”REAL” OMG i literally scream, because i was so excited!

  35. Hayleey says:

    There were two for me;
1- When Prim dies; the anger, relief and heartbreak felt was over taking, the actions before she dies and the way Collins set the scene out, with the words and implications.
2- When Peeta and Katniss first met up after they rescued him and were treating him; just before he tried to strangle her, it was a very intense moment

  36. Benita says:

    Catching Fire:
    - when the whistler got shot in the head
    - Cinna got beaten in front of Katniss’s eyes
    - in the beach where Peeta gave Katniss a locket with her mother, prim and gale’s photos in it. Means that Peeta really desire to give his life keeping Katniss to live. But Katniss cluelessly think that he only acts for the camera in her 1st thought-_-
    - when Katniss decides to kill Peeta with syringe and found out that Peeta was captured by the capitol

    Mockingjay:
    - The hospital bombing! with dying people underneath. i cried.
    - Katniss’s first meeting with peeta after he was rescued, shows that katniss truly love him. But instead of finding joy embracing him she got choked
    - prim and finnick dies
    - the last chapter when katniss shouts at buttercup that prim has gone

    *sorry for my bad english*

  37. "Shut up and eat your pears!" says:

One of the most tension filled parts for me was in Catching Fire when they are setting up the wire and the arena explodes. The part where Katniss leaves Peeta and goes with Johanna made me throw the book across the room because in my head I knew that something bad was going to happen!!! Then when Johanna knocked Katniss to the ground and stabbed her (at the time I didn’t know that she was removing the tracker) I was convinced Johanna was evil. When the arena blew up I actually had no idea what had happened because everything had happened so fast!!! i reread that part at least three times. that would be the most tension filled part out of all three books for me.

  38. Katri says:

I think the whole trilogy was so very tense and touching. I just couldnt stop reading, and that influenced my “normal life” alot. (all three books in 48 hours..) When Peeta and Katniss were kept apart my heart was breaking, and I couldnt think anything else but that they have to end up together. The lovestory between Peeta and Katniss is same time sad and so beautiful. I would like to have someone like Peeta next to me, who’s willing to do anything for me!

    My favoutite/most touching scenes were:

    HG:
    - When Ceasar is interviewing Peeta, and he tell about his love for Katniss
-Katniss founds Peeta when he is hurt
-The cave scene, when Peeta is hurt and he tells katniss he’s been wathing her for years and then they curl up together in the cave for first time
    -First kiss
-Katniss upset when she thinks that Peeta is dead when it really was the foxface who ate the berries. Peeta apologizing.
    - The thing with Berries, when Katniss asks Peeta to trust her and he does

    CF:
-When Peeta lied to Ceasar (in the interview) that he and Katniss were already married and Katniss was expecting a baby (even though it wasnt real, i hope(d) it would have been)
-Peeta and Katniss doind everything they can to keep each other save, even they knew were going to be killed while doing that
    -Peeta gives Katniss the pearl
-Peeta almost been killed when hitting the force field
-When Katniss realizes that Peeta is at possession of the capitol

    MJ:
-Katniss’s grief and anxiety when Peeta is not with her, and she thinks she has failed to protect him
-Peeta loosing his mind and forgetting his love for Katniss
-The moment when Katniss tells how she realized that Peeta is what she needs, not Gale
-The ‘real, not real’ -thing, and finally the guestion about Katniss loving Peeta and she answering ‘real’

….and many more since The Hunger Games was _the best_ book series i’ve _ever_ read!

After all I wasn’t very moved by people dying, since i considered it after all being ‘the name of the game’. All along the most touching part for me was the thing between K & P. When Katniss was told that Peetas family didnt survive the bombing of 12 made me upset though.

I think the whole consept of The Hunger Games is very fascinating. People fighting for their lives against others (who they come to know.)and the internal conflict the most of the tributes must have been faced with. On the other hand the killing and the instict to survive being quite natural part of being human. Killing others becomimg easier time after time even when its hard at the beginning(and some trubutes even volunteering in the Games.)

The society criticism was also quite visible part of the trilogy. How the prosperity gap increases, and how reality show formats take over. For example Hunger Games is in my opinion a mix of ‘Big Brother’ and ‘The survivor’. The Capitol in turn reminds me of national socialist germany in 1920-40, when Hitler was in command.

(I apologize my bad english and my poor choices of words(, since english is not my native language) and also my very long and analytical post, most part of which doesnt even answer the original question :) )

    • Adele says:

you are the only person who hit the nail on the head and got every single emotional bit there is I agree totally and uterly.

  39. TrailMix says:

Im a really big Josh Hutcherson fan,so when I read the books,I pictured Peeta at every moment as Josh. I was in tears in Mockingjay the most, because of what the Capitol had done to him. My arms when limp and I was wailing, “Noooooo!” I had to take a short break when Peeta lied to Ceasar about he and Katniss being
married and her expecting a child. I wanted to bop him in the forehead with pillow for that. I also about cried when Katniss thought Peeta was coming to touch her face but ended up choking her.

  40. Kaleb says:

I’d have to definitely say that the most tense part of the series, was at the end of the second games. This free-for-all in the dark used vivid imagery and pulled me into the suspense of not knowing who was dead or not, and who cut the wire, and questions like that.

  41. Alannah says:

The part that was most tension filled for me was either when Katniss broke down because she realized what was happening to Peeta or when Finnick died. I cried when Katniss broke down and reached out to Haymitch. It was sad. And I had to read the part where Finnick died like 5 times because I just couldn’t believe it. Then I didn’t cry over Finnick till the end when she was talking about that book and the color of his eyes. I LOVE Finnick and the only thing I hate about Hunger Games is that Finnick dies.

  42. rachel says:

    SPECIAL QUESTION FOR SUSAN COLLINS!!!!!
Is there going to be a fourth book to the hungr games trilogy[according to rumors]?
by the way, if there is going to be a fourth book i suggest to input gale in a weird new relationship with katniss and to name katniss and peeta’s kids after prim and finnick

  43. emma says:

peeta: you love me, real or not real
    katniss: real

  44. Mike says:

I’m not sure if it was the most tension filled part of the book for me, but it was definitely one of the more memorable ones. It was the part in “Catching Fire” where Katniss seems confused of her plans entering the arena, partially because of what happened to Cinna, and immediately swims toward the Cornucopia. Afterwards she finds that Finnick already has his hands on a Trident after she got her bow and then there is a long pause until Finnick reveals that they are allies and subtly shines Haymitch’s bracelet. That one got me tripping out because I honestly did not see that coming.

  45. KJ says:

IMO, two of the worst moments of tension in the series, were both instigated by Gale’s character. 1) Bombing the mountain and eliminating an entire district of people(s), and 2) Bomb the children, send in the first responders to help, then bomb again. In the first, Katniss was literally sick from the decision made, tried to fix it, and ended up getting shot for trying. In the second, Katniss lost Prim and her world nearly, catastrophically collapsed.

  46. CW says:

Well I have to say there were 5 tension filled moments that I really freaked out. 1- when prim died. I screamed, cried for 2 hours ( I stopped because I could not breath ) and threw the book which moments later I had to get because I had to keep going. 2- when rue, finnick, cinna, and boggs died. I was really up set, I was like OMG did that really just happen. 3- In katniss was shot and when they bome. 4- when katniss freaked about the 75th hunger games and got drunk. 5- when katniss came home Nd buttercup was there. I cried so hard.

  47. CW says:

Also when district 13 was under attack. 4- when katniss freaked about the 75th hunger games and got drunk. 5- when katniss came home Nd buttercup was there. I cried so hard. This is the top 5 tension filled moments for me.

  48. Kelsey says:

I was basically at an emotional breakdown in Mockingjay when Katniss tried to pull herself together for the cameras. When she thinks all her words will affect Peeta. She reacts to the camera but can’t say the words. I was emotionally dying when she said that the only person she wanted to hold her is Haymitch. I personally always loved Haymitch. I had a soft spot for him, because just thinking of whatever happened because of his games tore me. He was so sweet. It’s like Peeta and Katniss were his children. His only family. And ohmygoodness. When he holds Katniss while she’s sobbing. His “its okay, sweetheart” tore me apart. That was the hardest part for me, I think. Haymitch might’ve been my favorite character, overall. Peeta. And Haymitch. Who he is, you know? Such a softie despite all of his drunkenness. Which I completely understand, because i mean the freakin capitol ripped everything from him. But really, I loved Haymitch so much because you can yell that through his own tough exterior, that he really, truly, honestly, cares about his family, which at that point are only Katniss and Peeta.

The most touching moment for me was at the end of Mockingjay, where Katniss, Peeta, and Haymitch made the book of things that they couldn’t bear to forget. The colour of Finnick’s eyes, what Cinna could do with a length of silk, Lady licking Prim’s cheek, her father’s laugh…it made me cry. It just sums up the book in a whole – there are few tender moments but the ones that are there are so precious.

  50. Rachel says:

The most intense part for me was honestly the beginning of THG, before they even entered the arena. It was almost giving me panic attacks thinking, “How could they do this to children? How could they make them do this??” That was the part I literally had trouble breathing during. Although at the end of Mockingjay, when Buttercup returns, is the one part in the trilogy where I actually cried. I’m almost crying thinking about it now.

  51. Softball4ever says:

The worst part of the trilogy was when peeta strangled katniss after district 12 was destroyed. Another part was when finnick died, i loved him in the second book!!! <3

The best parts of the were when peeta was hallucinating with anger to kill katniss, and she kissed him to calm him down. Another was when Katniss was talking about having kids with gale, but instead she wanted the father to be peeta.

THE BEST PART OF THE WHOLE TRILOGY WAS WHEN PEETA ANNOUNCED KATNISS WAS PREGNANT! ALSO LOVED THE PART OF "STAY WITH ME" "ALWAYS!!", THE BEST PART THE END WHEN KATNISS AND PEETA ARE MARRIED!! WITH KIDS!!! LMFAO

  52. Autumn says:

Well it was not fun reading the emotionala part in the first book where rue died because i was in 3rd period. I was reading the dong and was covering most of my face with my jacket so people couldn’t tell I was crying.

**CONTAINS SPOILERS IF U HAVE NOT READ THE LAST BOOK!!**
During the last book I threw the book on my bed and was too anagry to pick it up for five mins because I was upset that Peeta had tried to kill Katniss. When Finnick died I cried and yet again smacked the book down as I was thinking, I finally was starting to like him!! Then when Prim died I threw the book accross my bedroom and was crying for like 10 mins. I kept thinking WHY!! No you can’t do that!! When the book ended I felt a bit better but all the sorrow was still fresh in my mind. So ya i broke down a lot…. Im sure my mom thought I had lost it though..

  53. Apoorva says:

My heart stopped when in Mockingjay Katniss watches Peeta getting beaten on screen. He’s been hit by his mom first, then Snow. :( Poor Peeta. I actually cried when Rue died, both in the book and movie.

  54. Ashley says:

I cried for at least 20 minutes in catching fire when katniss when couldn’t say good bye to gale and knew she would have to be in the arena withj peeta where only one would come out. Also when she ran off to hide in the cellar i truely felt her pain.

  55. Sage says:

It was sad when there was no closing between Katniss and Gale,it made it seem like they weren’t even friends.Or when finnick died he was such an amazing charecter and he was my favorite.OR also when President Snow came and visited Katniss and threatened Gale. There was alot!!!:)

  56. Ohhh….Mockingjay was REALLY emotional!

    1)Prim dies
2)Peeta gets hit by Snow on SCREEN
    3)Peeta almost kills Katniss
4)The whole bomb scene ( if you didnt know those were Gale and Beetee’s bombs)smdh
5)The ending with Peeta and Katniss finally declaring love in an unrueful manner
PS Cannnot WAIT to see who plays young Haymitch and Peeta and Katniss Mellark’s children!!!

  57. teagan says:

The last line n the third book where peeta says you love me. Real or not real. And then katniss says real. Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! I am such a geek. I louv the hunger games. I also think in was really intense when rue and prim died. My favorite part in the whole series is when Katniss brushes the hair off of peetas forehead and he let’s her. I am sooooo hyper right now OO

  63. Aya says:

When Finnick died my heart broke, i was in shock for many days!
And when Peeta came back from the capitol and did not remember anything…

  64. Catnip39 says:

When Finnick, Mags and Rue died. And when Peeta and Katniss stopped in District 11.
All the scenes with President Snow made me SO FREAKING ME MAD.

  65. charisma says:

the first thing that springs to mind is when in the third book all the children are sat in the freezing cold and then the parachutes come you just want to read and read ! its so tense and brings loads of questions to your mind !! and of course then prim dies.

i cryed all day when peeta strangeled katnis and he lost his mind , just had to add that.
