Fans of the Week & Fan Art Friday
Today we have a special combo addition of Fans of the Week and Fan Art Friday!
Recently My Hunger Games admin Summer and her company Dark Room Developments had the chance to recreate some more Hunger Games inspired photography and scenes from the book. So this week we are going to highlight the actors (and huge Hunger Games fans) for Fans of the Week as well as our Fan Art Friday. Here is what Summer had to say about the experience.
I had a great time recreating the world that Suzanne Collins brought to life. We recreated Katniss and Gale’s conversation the mornign of the reaping as well as Clove and Katniss’ interaction at the cornocopia. Coming up we are recreating the actual reaping scene with our wonderful Katie as Primrose Everdeen(pictured with Brittany below in a test shot), along with Thresh, Cato, Clove, and Katniss at the cornicopia. I was lucky enough to get to work with some very talented young actors. They were amazing, funny, and extremely proffessional and can’t wait to working with them again.
Take a look at the pics, video, and interviews below.
Brittany E.-Katniss Everdeen
What is it about The Hunger Games you love so much?
What I love about The Hunger Games is how Suzanne Collins creates this whole other world that you are transported into. She makes you feel for the characters and how they are forced to into this inhumane game in which they are forced to do one thing, kill.
Who is your favorite character in the Hunger Games? Why?
My favorite character would have to be katniss, because she is so strong in a time when it would be easy for her to just drop and let herself be killed
What was your favorite thing about recreating Katniss?
My favorite part about playing Katniss is definitely the fact that even when only playing her you can feel her girl power through the character and imagine how it would be to be in her shoes when the games are over
What was your favorite thing to shoot?
My favorite part to shoot was the scene where Clove was trying to kill me because her having a knife on my face, even though the situation wasn’t real, was kind of scary and it makes you think “Wow, what if this was real?”
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
It was fun to begin with but shooting with Summer just made it amazing. She is the best director/photographer we could ask for. She is funny, nice, and easy to work with.
Alyssa R.- Clove
What is it about The Hunger Games you love so much?
I love how fast paced it is and how Suzanne didn’t make the book to gory like it could have been. I love how I can find myself connecting to the book at times as well.
Who is your favorite character in the Hunger Games? Why?
Obviously, I love Clove! But I also like Cato, Rue and Katniss. I like Clove because of how … lethal she is and all the cool things she could do. When I first read the book I thought she could have killed Katniss if Thresh wasn’t there. I like Cato because he’s like Clove except more masculine. Sometimes I’ll joke that they’re my “dark side.” I like Katniss as well not only because she is the main character but, because I know what it feels like to love someone to the point that you would lay down your life for theirs ( or volunteer for them.) . I also help around the house. I can also connect with Katniss because we both grew up without a dad. I never meet my dad while she knew him for most of her life. Finally I like Rue because, to me, she is so nice and is brave. She tried to be brave for Katniss when she was dying and viewed Katniss kind of like a sister. I love how innocent she is and I don’t think it was right that Rue was put in the games. I kind of think though that Rue had a part in “igniting” the rebellion as well.
What was your favorite thing about recreating Clove?
The part I liked the most about playing as Clove was that while going over my lines I didn’t need much inspiration. I had to think of only one thing and, lol, I eventually started to scare myself. It also helped the “Katniss” brought her lines to school. We practiced together during our breaks.
What was your favorite thing to shoot?
My favorite thing to shoot was the bread scene with Brittany and Dillon. Every time they messed up I got fed the scraps! It was super good! Me and Marisa just sat behind the camera eating berries bread and goat cheese!
I loved how everyone was “behind the scenes”. From smearing mud on each other to having berries thrown at me it was fun!
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
And on the way home Brittany, Dillon, and I were singing in the car and munching on the leftovers. I remember saying “WOW I never thought Clove, Katniss, and Gale would get along in a car together”. And after that we call each other by our characters! Over all I had tons of fun!
Dillion R.-Gale Hawthorne
What is it about The Hunger Games you love so much?
Because the story is amazing and the action is AWESOME!
Who is your favorite character in the Hunger Games? Why?
My favorite character was Gale because he’s pretty cool
What was your favorite thing about recreating Gale?
My favorite part of recreating Gale was I got to hold a bow and arrow. (He had never held one one before, we didn’t actually let him shoot it lol)
What was your favorite thing to shoot?
My favorite thing to shoot was the scene with the bread. (Katniss and Gale)
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
The Hunger Games was THE COOLEST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
