Chapter 23

I don't move, where can they be? They might be dead, or they might have just decided that our allience would back fire on them. As if reading my mind, Colton speaks up.
"We couldn't find them, and after the bird grabbed you, it was chaos. The careers stopped hunting down the tributes, everyone just wanted to get away from the giant bird." Colton says softly.
"Aren't we going to look for them?" I say, anger in my voice. How can we just leave them? They might need us. I'm about to point this out when Mia speaks up.
"We're waiting till they show who died, we don't want to spend hours looking for two dead people" Mia says quietly as she adds a small branch to the fire.
So we wait. And wait. And wait. Mia and John fall asleep on each other's shoulders, and I lay down to rest in the cool dirt of the forest. If my sister were here, she would point out that the ants are probably crawling in my hair. Rose would always joke about my fear of bugs, that I somehow managed to get over after she died. Colton is the one intensly staring at the dark sky of the arena. Finally, the capitol anthem playd, and then it starts showing the people who died. District 3 boy, dead. District 6 boy and girl, dead. District 7 boy, dead. District 8 girl dead. District 9 boy and girl dead. My heart skips a beat. If they showed one more face, it would either be Sophie or Nick. Or both of them, I don't know exactly how many people died in the blood bath.
As the light slowly disapeers, a smile appears on my face.
9 people, 9 people died in the bloodbath, but somehow my entire allience managed to escape the horrow.
"They're alive!" I say, just loud for Colton to hear, John and Mia are still sleeping by the small fire.
Colton does not smile "So? They might be dieing, or in a lot a pain, or being eaten alive by the bird."
"Well when you look at it that way-" I say, but Colton is busy putting on his dried out shirt and pants.
"I'll be back, just make sure John and Mia don't get into any trouble" Colton said as he grabbed 7 throwing knives, two apples, one cracker, and a gallon full of water he must have got at the cornucopia.
"Good luck Colton" I say softly as I wait for him to leave.
"Luck doesn't win the games, skill does" He says, not looking back as he walks into the dense forest out of site.
Luck doesn't win the games, I keep repeating that to my self in my mind, and every time I do, I get a sicker feeling in my stomach.
Mostly because I am really counting on luck to let me win the games.

Ya, a little tweeking, since as I said before, I can't save what I write, so I need to post it on here. But I'm not going to go over it as much as I did with teh chapters before it since this is not for school anymore
