The bombs won the war, didn't they? Even if they weren't his, someone probably copied off of him. I doubt without the bombs the rebellion wouldn't have gone so well.

I think it was Gale's trap designthat was used, but he didn't make the bombs so they were not his. I think Coin used Gale's trap design so that Katniss would see Prim and run for her, ending up in the explosion and being killed. However this plan did not succeed. Prim was only in the trap because she was a medic going in to help the bombed children. Prim was too young still to go into the war zone as a medic, and for her to have been there Coin would have had to have given her the all clear to go. This is why I think it was Coin's bombs, all part of her plan. But I think it was Gale's trap design that she copied, possibly either so that Katniss would run for Prim or so that in the aftermath Katniss would blame Gale for Prim's death.

I'm sure Katniss could have found some way, some way to start a rebelion, maybe just threatening to eat the berries after Cato dies in the gruesome way, without Gale Katniss wouldn't have been able ot make snares, and she wouldn't have survivied, Gale and Peeta are just as important, not to mention Gale saved Peeta, Gale saved the dsitrict 12 group (PRIM AND MRS.EVERDEEN THANK YOU VERY MUCH)
