James Patterson's Private Games Rip Off Of The Hunger Games?

Postby peetakatnissgale » Sat Feb 25, 2012 3:05 pm

JAmes Patterson has a new YA novel out called The Private Games. I wanted to see how many people thought it was a rip off of The Hunger Games or what, so yep. The cover is attached. It basically has a golden arrow on it, but if you want to see it for yourself.

There is also a book called "battle royale" that is also the same as THG. but I would not call it a rip off depending on the day it came out.
" The Hunger Games . It costs a lot more than your life. To murder innocent people?" says Peeta. " Its costs everything you are!"

Ugh I hate the battle royale vs HG debate
Battle Royale was published first yes, but it was published in Japan and wasnt hugely successful at first. Suzanne Collins had never even heard of it when she was writing the Hunger Games. Besides a fight to the death is nothing new- gladiators for example

Agreed...Suzanne definitely took a well known plot idea and turned it into something creative and new and it's very successful...she obviously did NOT steal anyone else's ideas entirely so...there's no question about it :D

I totally agree. My friend (she must be insane) thinks the Hunger Games ripped off Twilight. I know! I know! She thinks just because there is a 'love triangle' that it is similar to Twilight. If only she would read the trilogy. When I started reading Twilight I (no joke) fell asleep. It was one of the most boring books that I have ever read. Right next to War and Peace.
