I agree with lovethg. Coin seemed to have that desire for power and nothing was going to stand in her way of receiving it... Look at what she wanted to do to Katniss.

Boggs said it as well. Katniss was a threat to Coin's power, so she wanted her to die, but in battle so she couldn't be pinned for it
