Francis Lawrence has just been confirmed to be the director of ‘Catching Fire‘. And he couldn’t be more excited! Lawrence has written a note to all the fans of ‘The Hunger Games‘ on the official Facebook page. Take a look!

At the end of the day, all of the work that I put in to my movies is for you — the fans. Right I LOVE I Am Legend! It’s such an interesting and fascinating story! I think Francis Lawrence did a great job… But he does have a lot to live up to! I mean just think about the success Gary has had through the first!
I think out of everything he needs to stick with the way the Clock Arena is in the book! He shouldn’t change it! And he needs to bring it to life in such a way that people who haven’t read the book will understand because a lot of people were a little confused and clueless about the ending with Seneca Crane in book one. THE CASTING NEEDS TO BE PERFECT. I mean he really needs to cast Finnick and Johanna perfectly or who knows, it could spark an uprising! He needs to stick with the way the Capitol is in the fist book… I’m talking style, fashion, buildings… And I really think he should bring in a Madge! He should try and develop relationships between characters like, Prim, Mama Everdeen, Haymitch, Cinna and Gale… I feel that wasn’t done good enough in the Movie…
Many YA books are coming up in the next 3-4 years so he needs to make this so good it will stand top of the game for the years to come.

I hate to say it but I think Madge is gone for the duration. Honestly, she doesn’t do much in the second book. Just gives Katniss the meds and they can easily have someone else do that. And we all know what happens at the end of book 2.
Frankly, I’d rather Madge’s screen time be given over to the development of one of the primary relationships/friendships.
my friend is so confused about Madge u know how in the first book Madge gives katniss the pin but in the movie some old lady gives her the pin. she thinks Madge is an old lady. I hope they put her In the movie she seems so nice!!!
i agree completely that was very well said i think that he does need to make the realationships stonger between the characters and i think it would be hard to bring in madge but how else will gale ge his medicen and i dont think he should take out as much and add as much as gary did i was very disipointed with parts and i think it will be hard to make the movie follow the book with all the important information that gary has removed but i think you will do great good luck!! becarful with the casting!!

I can’t wait for Catching fire! I hope Lawrence nails the Casting and that the milieu they use to film is going to blow our minds!
It’s official I now LOVE him!
I am so excited for Catching Fire, the arena in this book is my absolute favorite and I can’t wait to see how it plays out! (If you kill Peeta with the force field for a few minutes before Finnick brings him back, please be careful with Josh, none of us wants a bruised Josh <3) Anyway, the casting I agree needs to be perfect, especially with Finnick, Johanna, Annie, and Plutchard. I believe in this movie (and Mockingjay) that these characters need to be perfect. The parts they really cannot leave out is Katniss' talk with President Snow (obviously), Gales whipping (no matter how painful for us fans), Peeta's three minute death from the force field (because Katniss finally starts to realize her feelings), and definitely the Mockingjay hour of the clock when Katniss and Finnick are stuck inside listening to the voices of Prim, Gale, and Annie scream for them while Peeta and Johanna watched from outside the force field (that part must be included, period!) Well that's all my thoughts on the subject (but I hope the costumes and make-up are great!) can't wait to see your work Mr. Lawrence, good luck to you!
I agree with everything you said! I really hope he keeps those scenes in the movie. President Snow’s conversation is definitely one of the most important scenes. Hopefully he will collaborate with Suzanne Collins on the script just like Gary Ross did with The Hunger Games!
I can’t wait for Catching Fire I am so excited, there is so much stuff that should be in it, like Twill and Bonnie I think should definitely be in it ,because that’s what gets Katniss thinking about rebelling, and also when Katniss first meets Finnick and everything Emma said I think all of this stuff is important to put in.

Im looking forward to the jabberjay scene, even thought it’ll be so sad. And the kiss between gale and katniss! And the uprising in eight. And the victory tour and peeta and katniss and everything!
i would love to see katniss and peeta sleeping on the train together. and the whole ideal with the capitol people eating nonstop and peeta being disgusted
Besides the obvious (all the above comments), I think he should build the love triangle a bit more since this is the book it gets a bit more intense between Gale, Peeta, & Katniss.
i think he needs to include at the end- even though its not in the book that- wen peeta and gale have the conversation saying that she will choose who ever she candy live without they should find a way to make katniss say it to peeta at the end saying she couldn’t live without him

I’m so happy they picked Francis Lawrence, he’s an amazing director. I would like to see the monkeys really scary and freaky, because the dog mutts in the first movie weren’t that impresive. And I’d love to see Plutarch be played by Johnny Depp. He deserves to be in such movie. Maybe Taylor Swift could be Annie (at the reaping in District 4).

please take my note into consideration i am an 11 year old boy that lives in wilmington nc, i have always wanted to be in a movie, If you could make some castings for artemis 2 in wilmington nc that would be great also if you could film some here.
