The Hunger Games Script Stays True to the Book

My Hunger Games - Movie

Some of the greatest movies started out as books.  As fans of The Hunger Games series, we can’t wait to see how the first book is adapted for film.  And as fans we also hope that the movie will stay faithful to the book. spoke to an insider who has read the script for The Hunger Games movie to report that “fans will be so happy!”  Apparently it even contains some back-story that could pave the way to a prequel series.

The insider tells

“I think ‘Hunger Games’ fans will be thrilled with the script of the new movie, it stays very true to the book. Suzanne was very involved in the process and made sure the movie didn’t stray from her original ideas.”

“The movie goes into a little bit more of the background story of how the Hunger Games first came about. [Suzanne Collins] isn’t giving away too much but is providing information to whet people’s appetites over when the districts were first formed, and the initial revolution.”

I know I’d love to know a bit more about the history of Panem, about the intial revolutionary attempts which led the Capitol to create the Hunger Games in the first place.  With Suzanne Collins writing the screenplay for the movie and staying involved in the whole movie process, we should expect to see a faithful rendition for the film.

I know I can’t wait to see The Hunger Games movie.  I’d also love to see a prequel, even if it doesn’t involve Katniss, Peeta and Gale.  What do you think?

  1. MyHungerGames says:

I actually wish Suzanne Collins would write a prequel book – but I’m guessing that won’t happen

  2. pedro says:

yeah, staying true to the book, FIX THE FREAKIN CAST IF YOUR GONNA STAY TRUE TO THE BOOK!!!!!

  3. shannon says:

I like how they are showing how the districts came about. that would be helpfull

  4. meg says:

OMG this just made my day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. marissa says:

i have faith in them staying true to the book. I’m sooo happy

  6. Rose says:

I’d like to see what happened with District 13 and how they all got there jobs and how the Capitol came about. I am also thrilled they stayed true to the book.

  7. MyHungerGames says:

I guess, while the movie will stay true to the story line, we’re not going to see the 74th Hunger Games just through the eyes of Katniss. I’m guessing we’ll see a lot more of what Gale/Prim/Mrs Everdeen are going through during the Games as well as how the Gamekeepers strategise to make life harder for the tributes (especially Katniss)

  8. karla says:

I love the series don’t get me wrong, but I think the movie **fingers crosses** will be slightly better than the books. We will see the backstory of Panem, and see the whole action instead of a small portion through Katniss’ point of view. I’m super excited

  9. Kayla says:

You bet their gonna stay to the book. Otherwise I’m seriously gonna loose it :L
I recon staying to the book makes this movie better, like in Percy Jackson, I like it how it’s changed, but for this movie, I can’t see it changed. I think that would ruin this movie. Just had to put it out there (:

  10. Hunger games says:

This is so owsome !! I was worried that the movie might be nothing like the book ……. but now I dont have that problem 😉 I really can´t wait for the movie

  11. #1 Team Peeta :) :) says:

Yay! i was worried 2 that this movie was gonna b twilight again but now im so excited that they will stay to the book and show how the districts came to be. i was always curious and now im excited for the movie to come out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Sophia says:

i don’t really like the casting for Gale. Liam just doesn’t have the face for him and everytime I see him, i also see Miley Cyrus because of the Last Song….
Not a bad choice for Peeta, but I hope Josh wears a blond wig :/

  13. alex says:

yiiiieeee!!! history of panem :)) luuuurrrrvvvvvveeeee iiitttt!!!!

  14. Max says:

I’d love to see earlier (happier) days too but who’s gonna play the young and beautiful Mrs Everdeen?! 😛

  15. Amanda says:

Isn’t Peeta supposed to be kind of, oh I dunno, CUTE? >_x And isn’t Gales kinda supposed to be handsome/hot? Well, neither of them are either of those characteristics. I know that isn’t a whole lot of the movie, but oh well. I think they’re both sort of ugly… Maybe it’s just me, but all the lead roles so far, except Rue and Thresh and possibly Katniss, are screwed up. They aren’t right.

  16. Kaylee says:

I’m happy about them keeping it tru to the book cuz I’m a obssesed fan. I have merchandise chlothes and I’ve read the books about 13 times each so yea :) I like the actors chosen and how you chose to do different ethnisities to match the meaning of the book, but the people they are considering for cinna are just all wrong he is supposed to be young and average handsome….he’s the only character i’m truelly worried about but i have faith in the crew so yea

hunger games is my life :)

  17. The guy says:

Amanda how did you picture Rue and Thresh?

  18. Rebecca says:

If the movie script would truly be sticking to the book, then the actors would at least resemble the characters in the book. Originally, Katniss has olive toned skin, grey eyes, and black hair, while Jennifer Laurence is blonde haired and green eyes. Leave it to Hollywood to make this movie as white washed as possible. And as for the director, he has almost no experience. He has directed two movies…. I think we should call in an expert worthy of directing this movie. The books are FASCINATING. If this will be the cast and director just sit back and watch as the movie completely fails, just like Twilight.

And if somehow the bad fan feed convinces the cast directors of this movie to change the cast, may I suggest picking a cast that doesn’t look like they popped out of True Life or some douchy reality show on MTV. I hope Jennifer Lawrence is ready to dye her hair brown, wear grey contacts and get a decent tan because no fan will be satisfied with a blue hair blonde eyed Katniss.

  19. Hunger Games Crazy says:

Finally! Something Right! The Hunger Games is my life! If they don’t have the little things correct, like Katniss’ flame nailpolish chipping off during to games and the Capitol people having weird accents, I will Freak! I have read the book to many times to count and it’s all I think about! I am INSANE!

  20. #1 Team Peeta :) :) says:

im obssesed with these books i had to see a therapist when i first read the books cuz i was completely insane and mentally insane all i could ever think about was about the hunger games i was really hoping for a better cast then liam hemsworth and josh hutcherson but i think that the minor characters have better actors playing them unlike the 3 main characters but screw this world and wateva.

  21. KaliaPrescottFan123 says:

ok for people who are mad about the characters looks theyre gonna fix it.. josh is working on his hair and jen and liam prob are..who doesnt get that???…anyways im excited but if they add this then they have to make the movie longer like 2 hours 30 minutes or so..becuz alot of people will be mad if they take out huge parts but im glad theyre staying to the book and suzanne is with them..they could take out small parts like greasy sae if they need

  22. Cuzin says:

So I’m going to trust you suzanne!!! I love Josh as peeta!!! He was in my dream cast!!! And the guy form beastly was my dream gale with brown hair of course… But that didn’t happen :( oh well stop sweating the small stuff you guys of course they’re going to get the hair right and stuff, duh… This isn’t going to be like bridge to terabithia

  23. sam says:

I hope their will be another prequel book but great job staying with the book

  24. JKE says:

I’m actually happy with the cast except for Liam…I pictured Gale ridiculously good looking! I love Josh…he’s a good actor and I think he’s cute..with blond hair, he can look like Peeta (who I love!) Also, was thinking it would be cool, if Suzanne wrote Hunger Games from Peeta’s perspective…like Meyer did with Midnight Sun for the Twilight Saga before it was leaked.

  25. gwony says:

JKE; u’re rite both Liam and Josh are great but they should switch roles. Liam would be much better as Peeta

  26. Marryanna says:

I would like a prequel series but it should be in book form because honestly I prefer books to movies and they are getting a little ahead of themselves with the whole prequel series. Slow down you haven’t even finished filming the first movie.

  27. Morgan says:

I think Josh and Liam should switch roles. I am not sure if I am going to like Josh as Peeta he wasnt Peeta in my head. Alex Pettyfer was my perfect Peeta!!!

  28. tacos says:

i love the hunger games and i hope the movie is just like the books

  29. tacos says:

i dont konw about u people out there but i woul like 2 know who is on TEAM PEETA or team gale. personaly i never liked gale from the the star i was alwass and forever will be on TEAN PEETA!!!! he was always better than gale ever was .well thats wat i think but eventhough i heta gale i cant wait for the movie. i know its going to be GREAT!!!!!!!!!

  30. Prim says:

I think Kaya Scodelario should be Katniss (if they made her look a little younger)

  31. #1 Team Peeta :) :) says:

HI TACOS!!!!!!!!! ( she knows who i am. she’s my unicorn-believing friend.)

  32. PEETA! says:

YES!!!!!!! They needed to, it would have been ruined if they went away from the book

  33. Skye Brook says:

Yay!!! Going opening day with all my friends and my awsome english teacher who is deeply in love with the Hunger Games as well xD

  34. omg, just can’t wait till i get the pin 😀

  35. eva says:
