Hunter Parrish | Finnick Odair Catching Fire talks
A few days back we reported that Hunter Parrish had been chatting to MTV about the process for auditioning for The Hunger Games including the fan support for him to be cast as Finnick Odair. Hunter indicated that throwing everything into his effort to get the role of Peeta Mellark, left him feeling a bit more cautious about any possible role in the sequel, Catching Fire.
But now The Daily Beast is reporting that Hunter Parrish has indeed been in talks with the producers of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire:
Then, of course, there’s The Hunger Games. He came this close to playing Peeta in this year’s mega-blockbuster, but lost the role to his good friend Josh Hutcherson. “It was pretty hard. I really, really wanted it.” He says he felt like his whole life was leading up to that role and when he didn’t get it, he was crushed. “I think I just wanted it a little too much.” Looking back, he says, it was a hefty and much needed helping of humble pie. “It became a very grounding experience for me.”
But in a bizarre twist of fate, Parrish may end up in The Hunger Games after all. His name has been thrown into the mix of potential actors to play the character of Finnick Odair in the sequel Catching Fire. This time, he’s much more cautious about getting his hopes up. He has been in talks with producers but doesn’t want to think about it too much. His eyes light up, however, as he considers the possibility. “It would be fun,” he says, unable to contain himself. “If Lionsgate (the company behind the film) wants to go for it, I’ll be there. I’ll be right there.”

Probably because he isn’t “garrett hedlund”, “Alex pettyfer”, “zac efron” or however else fans constantly throw out there without considering that there may be people that are better for the part

I don’t know why, but I can clearly picture him as Finnick… It would almost be perfect ! (“almost”, ’cause no human being can be as great as the Finnick in my mind ! :p)

actually, i think he’d be a good finnick.. not exactly what i pictured.. but he looks like he’d fit it. everyone had a different image of finnick.. i thought he’d have a foreign accent
but in all, he’s definetly a good candidate for finnick.. remember, you might not think he looks like THE finnick now, but most people thought jennifer wouldnt make it as katniss.. really, shes the only person i can imagine as katniss.
and just to put it out there… josh hutcherson is the best peeta . ever.

I dont know he looks too young and not “dreamy” enough for me. I could have deff seen him as a Peeta but as a Finnick, I dont think so. Although I guess it could be much worse.

Actually, I think his best role is the one he has in “Weeds”. He’s so hot in this show, I love him, you should check it out !
Oh, and I think he’s quite a good actor though, so I’m totally ok with that choice anyway !

Garrett is my first choice, but if he get the part I won’t be mad. Even if he looks a bit young to play Finnick, I think he’s still a good choice

I do not think that Hunter looks the part, Finnick is described as ginger and extremely good looking. he sounds like a huge hunger games fan though which is half of what matters!

I’m a big fan of Garrett Hedlund, but, for some reason, I really DON’T WANT him as Finnick! I mean, he is an awesome actor, but I think he looks too old to play Finnick (he’s almost 28 years old) and it would be waaay better if they pick up a not-that-famous actor to the role.
I’ll be pretty disappointed if they pick up actors like Robert Pattinson or any other actor that is known by the media. They should take advantage of the character to show the world an all brand new talent!
Hunter is exactly as I picture Finnick in my mind: with that brat face, but, in the same way, with a man expression.

People keep saying that Hunter is too short, but they can make it looks like he is taller, don’t you worry about that!
