It will be the question Jena Malone  is most likely to face from here on in…. how does she feel about being cast as Johanna Mason in Catching Fire…and has she read the books??

Well E! did just that when they caught up with Jena at the Beverly Hills party for Dannijo & Tucker Tea.

Here’s what they have to say:

“I’m super excited,” Malone exclusively told us at last night’s Beverly Hills party for Dannijo & Tucker Tea. “It’s going to be amazing.”

But she’s not rushing things.

“We’re getting there,” she said when asked if she’s met with director Francis Lawrence.

As for preparing for her role, she said, “One step at a time.”

Johanna is a former Hunger Games winner who becomes a rival to Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence).

One thing Malone doesn’t need to do is read the Hunger Games novels—she’s already done that.

“I read the whole series over a weekend when I had a wisdom tooth out,” she said. “I was in bed looking for something to read and my little sister recommended it like a year and a half ago, so she was like, ‘You have to read it! You have to read it!’ And so I’m glad I finally did and I loved it.”

We’re super excited for you, too, Jena!

  2. Bluto says:

I can’t wait for “the slap” when Johanna brings Nut & Volts to Katniss. Should be good!

  3. Derek says:

Check out pictures of her from “Sucker Punch” not a great movie but she played a character named Rocket and that hair style just reminds me of Johanna’s kinda style! Can’t wait to see her on the big screen as this character!

i have mentioned before that I am not a fan of her as a choice for Johanna. It isn’t because I don’t believe she can cover the action in Catching Fire, it is that I simply don’t think that she can act well enough to cover the part in the third and fourth movies that will cover Mockingjay. I have no faith that she has the depth needed to be that serious of an actress.
