Jennifer Lawrence wants $10 million for Catching Fire
Apparently The Hunger Games star, Jennifer Lawrence is looking to boost her earnings for the sequel, Catching Fire.
The Hollywood Reporter says she’s looking to negotiate a paycheck of $10 million dollars The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
The actress is in the final stages of negotiating a rich deal to return for Catching Fire that will pay her somewhere in the $10 million range, according to sources close to the deal. The figure is a combination of salary, bonuses and escalators. Depending on the box-office performance of the film, she could earn much more.
The Hollywood Reporter reported in February that the Oscar-nominated actress was paid just $500,000 upfront for the first film, plus bonuses depending on box-office performance. Her original deal with studio Lionsgate locked her into four planned films based on the best-selling Suzanne Collins trilogy, but producers — recognizing the success of the franchise — moved to renegotiate her contract as the film became an international sensation. Such renegotiations are common on major film franchises. The Twilight stars, for instance, received significant salary bumps in subsequent movies.
Lawrence’s co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth also are said to have renegotiated their contracts, but each will receive far smaller raises, according to sources. Lawrence, whose gritty performance was central to the film, is seen as the marquee star.

I’ve been a HUGE fan of Jennifer Lawrence for almost 4 years, she is so nice, sweet, funny and so very talented! And I own pretty much all her movies. I totally think that she deserves alot of money for her performances, coz its one thing she has that alot of peopel in hollywood dont have is talent.
I’m not saying I still dont love her…
But see what fame does to people. It makes them greedy. It’s shocked me to see that Jen is getting greedy too :C
I don’t think it is fair to say she is greedy for asking for this. The movie has made over 400 million dollars and she is the center to that film. If she was not a believable Katniss, it would have flopped. (of course, people still go see Twilight even though Kristen sucks so maybe it wouldn’t have flopped but it would not have been as good as it was). See i think this is her asking to be compensated for her work and her time. Think about the work she did to get ready for this film.
If she didn’t get the money, the studio execs would and i would much rather see her have it. Now if she were asking for 40 million even 25 million, I might agree she was being greedy.

But don’t worry about her quitting. When she signed into the part at the beginning, she signed something saying she’d stay for all 3(or 4) films.
ithink she ask for a bit too much ,…i mean The Hunger Games cast are better actor and actrees then tha Twlight cast …cuz to be honest ithink the Twlight is an ok love story of vampire and werwolfs (not the biggest fan of love storys but Twlight passes) ithink the diffent actor could of been better ..so ill understand if THG cast wants a big check …but if shez asking for 10 million for Catching Fire …imagine how much she ill be ask and wanting for Mockingjay part 1 and 2
10 Million Dollars could feed and clothe who knows how many starving people, and it’s more money than the average family will ever see in their whole lifetime; but actors make that amount in just a few month’s work making one film. Yes it’s totally ridiculous, but it’s not like Jen’s the only one. Everyone is making these insane amounts of money, if they are a big enough actor. And I agree that if Kristen Stewart can make the same amount just for looking constipated in Twilight, then a great actress like Jennifer deserves it.

Guys come on, don’t hate on Jen. $10 million is nothing considering what other movie stars make with every movie they’re in. Big names get $20 million up front no matter what the movie is. And it didn’t say it was Jen who demanded the money it said the producers and I’m sure her agent who started talking about more money. Give the girl a break she almost and should have won an oscar for crying out loud and this movie made almost if not $1 billion. I’d say $10 million is fine.

well…Kristen Stewart got 20 million for each twilight movie but the first… Jenn is so much better than her in every way.. so she deserves it!!! Katniss is not easy to play! and that movie will be huge and gonna make so much money..
the movie is going to easily over 200,000,000. What would they do with all that money anyway if they weren’t paying the actors and actresses that were essential to production the share that they deserve? It’s a team effort.
She’s a great actress and has plenty of talent and yes she deserves to be paid a lot for her work. But can someone please tell me why actors are payed much more than teachers, doctors, lawyers, ect.? Never has made much sense.
