It’s quite cool. I really like what they did with it. It makes me really interested to see what they do with Mockingjay. The catch phrase, though, I’m still a little iffy on. For those who haven’t read the book they’re being quite obvious that there will be a revolution. All we knew before reading the book was that there was one brewing, but the mystery was still there and it set the tone for the second novel. Don’t get me wrong, I like it, but not good for those who don’t know the story already.
I have to agree with you about the ‘tagline’[Every revolution begins with a Spark]. The picture doesn’t evoke the image of a spark. The image is more full-on inferno…IMO.
So…are we interpreting the ring to be the Plutarch’s watch face? or the Cornicopia? I didn’t think the Cornicopia was described with the ring on the outside. I thought it was the pedastals that each of the tributes were standing on, had to get into the water to get to the land srip to get to the center of to Cornicopia to get to the ‘supplies’. Therefore, I am voting watch face.
The poster is layered, implying the increasing complexity of the second book…IMO.
I’m pretty sure the ring is *SPOILER* the Arena, because it’s a circle and is supposed to be like a clock with the different danger sections. In a sense yes it’s Plutarch’s watch but that’s because his watch is based on the Arena and the whole ‘it starts at midnight’ shabang.
It’s a logical evolution for the Mockingjay logo, considering what they did for the first film. I’m liking how the colors are slightly darker than they were for the first film. Hopefully the movie itself will be a little darker, as well.
I really like the pin, but the overall poster looks almost a little too similar to the poster for the first movie.
It’s easy to read into every little teaser we get, but I don’t think it’s fair to really judge until we get a trailer.
That’s the idea.
It’s all right, I guess….I agree with everyone.
We practically saw the poster during the logo reveal. Why were people then gushing over it, and now are all “bleh” because it looks similar to the first? That is the idea, they are supposed to look that way. We’re going to see something also similar with Mockingjay.
Its exactly the logo reveal, we saw it ages ago

I love that blog! I voted
Lots of you are talking about the lines in the circle around the Mockingjay. I have to say I would think it to be a scope, as if the capitol is taking aim at Katniss. (or rather snow is) Maybe that’s just me.
Or the sections in the beach arena. Clock like.
It’s also that way on the book. It could be like the Capitol’s “perfect” little world is being shattered. The lines could be considered breaking glass. Like with The Hunger Games book cover, the Mockingjay is surrounded by darkness and in a perfectly enclosed way. The Catching Fire cover, it has the lines in the background. Also the mockingjay is beginning to move around. Like it’s about to take flight. With the Mockingjay cover, the bird is in flight, and the “circle” is shattered and in pieces around the mockingjay. The CF background is a reddish-orange color. To possibly represent blood, anger, violence, ect. Something big brewing.
Mockingjay’s background color is a beautiful, light sky-blue. Freedom is the first thing that comes to my mind. I think the covers really represent the books in a nutshell. Also, if you haven’t noticed, the titles almost make a sentence: “The Hunger Games are Catching Fire, Mockingjay.”
May i just say, you are a genius.
Nice read into it looking like a scope! I hadn’t thought of that. The lines also most definitely are referring to the arena and the clock theme. In the logo reveal, when it’s animated, you see the spokes turning and “tick tock” esque sounds. For those who haven’t read the book, it’s like Lionsgate is Plutarch and they’re hinting at the viewers whats to come!
About the whole “they’re giving away to viewers who haven’t read the books, that there’s going to be a rebellion” thing though….. Um, didn’t they have that scene in the first movie after Rue died where District 11 went bananas and rebelled?!? I think that pretty much was bluntly implying to the audience that there will be a rebellion and unless you didn’t watch the first movie then you’d already know something’s coming.
“The Hunger Games are Catching Fire, Mockingjay” <——- AWESOME
Oh, now I remember! I like your whole “Lionsgate=Plutarch” idea.
