Lionsgate Spruiks Hunger Games at Cannes
It was back in March 2009 that Lionsgate picked up the worldwide distribution rights to the film version of The Hunger Games. While it’s believed the movie will see a release in 2011, it’s still early days for the project.
But there have been some positive steps forward. According to a report in Variety, Lionsgate has taken the project to Cannes where distributors, sales executives and producers have all been trying hard to get buyers interested in their projects They say there’s been some strong interest in The Hunger Games trilogy.
The President of International at Lionsgate, Helen Lee Kim told Variety that sales prospects for the right kind of project remain strong. She said franchise movies (like The Hunger Games) are definitely something that people are looking to partner up on.
So while it’s still early days, the latest bargaining at Cannes looks pretty positive for all of us fans of The Hunger Games that can’t wait to see the book make it onto the big screen.
