Mainstay’s The Hunger Games Hanging Tree
The folk at Mainstay Productions are huge fans of The Hunger Games. They have just about completed their latest project; a short film called “The Hanging Tree”. To let us know how close they are, they’ve released a couple of stills from the film and shooting the project.
If you’re not familiar with their work then you can check out their shorts, Finnick and Annie and the Second Quarter Quell.
So what is “The Hanging Tree” about?
For those of you who remember in the trilogy, The Hanging Tree was one of the songs featured in The Hunger Games. The Hanging Tree was taught to Katniss by her father when she was young. In the book Mrs Everdeen yells at her husband, who tells Katniss to forget the song lyrics. This upsets Katniss and she runs into the meadow under a tree crying. After her father’s death, the song plays itself over and over in Katniss’s head. Over time Katniss comes to fully understand what the song means.
The Mainstay production takes this concept to create a short film that focusses on the relationship between Katniss and her father.
We should be able to see the final production on Febrary 8.

Awesome, really excited.
They also did the Katniss and Rue short. I like Mainstay’s work—they do good. Katniss looks great in the stills.
i loved their six-part (i think it was six anyway) mini-series on finnick and annie. I can’t wait for this one!
