Make your own katniss cowl

This question came up on our site: Where can you get a pattern for the Katniss cowl as seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire?

The good news is that there are many talented knitters / crochet workers out there that have recreated the Katniss scarf with many selling their beautiful creations on Etsy. But if you want to make your very own, here are a few free patterns that are available out there.

Group Think:

If you have a pattern, or know of another one, please let us know.  Happy Knitting.

Those are cute but expensive! $160 for yarn in a pretty pattern? No thank you.

You must realize it takes a lot of work to make the cowl. Knitting/crocheting something as large as this takes a long time, and it may take several ‘prototypes’ for the artist to perfect the cowl, as each one is made from scratch without the use of a previous pattern. The high cost is also meant to pay for supplies. Obviously you want to sell a product for more than you payed to make it. On top of that, sites like Etsy charge a small fee for every listing, and credit card companies do the same to earn their money. With all this going on, there’s a lot of money that the artists don’t really get to pocket, so they must make their prices high. In the end, it’s up to you to decide how you spend your money, but there is always someone willing to pay for the product. :)

Couldn’t agree with you more Jene. People who don’t do, don’t realise the hard work and love that goes into hand made items. xx

I have a pattern for sale for the Katniss Cowl pattern! 😀 It is crochet and is pretty similar to the one from the movie. I couldn’t find any other patterns which fit the way hers looks to fit in the movie, so I created my own pattern :)

    You can find it here:–huntress-cowl/81315

I also offer custom orders, so if someone doesn’t know how to crochet, I would be happy to crochet one for you! 😀
