My Hunger Games Cast Countdown – E. Roger Mitchell

Welcome to Cast Countdown with Hamilton.  Every Wednesday I will introduce a member of the Catching Fire cast and discuss what it is that they will be bringing to the role of their character.  Fair warning, just in case you have not yet read the books, there may be spoilers here.  Today’s featured cast member is Seeder‘s District 11 counterpart:

E. Roger Mitchell as Chaff

About Chaff:  In his 40′s, Chaff was the victor of the 45th Games and comes from District 11.  A drinking buddy of Haymitch, he’s a rough and tumble kind of guy – Effie mentions that he never could stay out of a fight.  He’s described as being about six and a half feet tall with dark skin and a missing hand from his time in the Games.  He is one of the members of the “Katniss Alliance,” during the third quarter quell but for the majority of the time he’s unseen in the background.

About E. Roger Mitchell:  Mitchell has been acting since 1997, mostly in bit parts including a Company Captain in the alien invasion film Battle Los Angeles.  He’s the right age, though at 5’10″ he’s not quite as towering as Chaff is described.  I can’t recall seeing Mitchel in anything so I can’t comment on his acting but he does look the part and from the video below seems to have a nice personality.
