Catching Fire casting is ablaze and the faster we get the news of the smaller players, the closer we are to getting the answer everyone’s begging for the answer to:  Who’s Finnick?  In the meantime, Lionsgate has just announced who will be playing former District 1 victor, Gloss.  And the part goes to Alan Ritchson, who, if I remember correctly, was actually some fans’ choice for Finnick.

ALAN RITCHSON CAST AS GLOSS IN LIONSGATE’S THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE

Santa Monica, CA, August 9, 2012- Lionsgate® and the filmmakers of THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE are pleased to announce that Alan Ritchson has been cast in the role of Gloss in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire. A former Career tribute from District , Gloss and his sister Cashmere are both competing in the Quarter Quell.

Ritchson most recently starred in the CBS comedy pilot SUPER FUN NIGHT with Rebel Wilson, and BLUE MOUNTAIN STATE, which aired on Spike TV for three seasons.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark.   Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts.  Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE will be directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has sold more than 50 million books in print and digital in the U.S. alone.

Lionsgate will release THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE on November 22, 2013.

  1. Amy says:

    Definitely looks wise, doesn’t he?

    • Madison says:

not really… he looks like someone who would be “desired” by capitol people.
      sorry, but that’s what i think…

  2. ticktock12 says:

    I think he’s good.
Before any haters go on to say he’s too young and too good looking, Gloss is supposed to be in his mid to late 20′s and is described to be “classically beautiful”. So he’s perfect.
As for his acting, who cares? As long as he’s not dreadfull it will be fine, we hardly see him and I don’t even think he has a speaking role.

  3. Mariah says:

Cool ! He looks great for the role of Gloss :D

  4. Sisalicious21 says:

Cashmere and Gloss are siblings right? So whoever plays Cashmere will have to look somewhat similar to Gloss. I think he’s a good choice for Gloss btw.

  5. charisma says:

    good choice!

  6. I like the color blu :) says:

I agree with everyone else. He does seem like a good choice :) This only makes me wonder who Cashmere is though…

  7. KJ says:

WOW! He would have made a good Finnick, as well.

  8. MADZ says:

he’ll be perfect! if only he was playing finnick instead…and not sam clauflin….yeah… :/

  9. Veronica Mars says:

He should be finnick. He is totally gorgeous!

  10. Veronica Mars says:

Then finnick is gonna have to be HOTTER.

  11. Rorymellark says:

He’s much more of a Finnick than Sam Claflin. But he looks good for Gloss too.

  12. RebeccaB. says:

Yes, he is a better Finnick than Sam Claflin. But has Sam been confirmed? I hope it’s somebody else, actually. But more power to Sam if he is Finnick. Alan’s perfect for Gloss, our pretty District 1 Career victor. Now to see who is Cashmere.

  13. Kindra says:

I agree, a much better Finnick than Sam Caflin and whoever gets Finnick will have to be hotter (which Sam Caflin is not, in my opinion). A good choice for Gloss, though.

  14. Johanna Mason says:

Wow, this guy is FINE. I hated Gloss in the book, but I might actually be kind of sad to see him die in the movie. :|

  15. Dani says:

If they decided to make Cashmere the older sibling Trisha Helfer (Six on Battlestar Galactica) would be perfect. She’s stunning.

  16. Emma says:

Gloss is supposed to be that clean, classic, “i’m-carved-out-of-marble” kind of guy, so Alan Ritchson absolutely fits the part. I know many fans don’t like Sam Claflin as Finnick, but right now he’s one of the only potential Finnicks who seems chill, laidback, and effortlessly handsome without shaving/caring about how he looks/not afraid to get dirty (literally dirt and sand). Alan Ritchson would not look good with a stubble, or with a fishing net. So please have faith in Sam. If he sucks in Catching Fire, then feel free to yell “toldya so!”

  17. ILUBUDAVIDBELYAVSKIY! says:

in catching fire, its suggested that Gloss and Cashmere are prostitutes for the capitol…i so wanna know who gloss is now!!!

  18. He’s hot! I think he should have played Finnick but I think Gloss suits him!!!!!!!

  19. Catherine says:

He’s very good looking and will play a great Gloss. Finnick will have to be even hotter than Alan.

    • Madison says:

got that right. i think ALEX PETTYFUR gets to play the amazingly gorgeous FINNICK ODAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. Matthew says:

Hmm… I really like the actors who will do Johanna and Mags. But not like Wiress and Gloss. Anyway, I think to match “this” Gloss. Reese Witherspoon would be the perfect pick!

  21. Cassie says:

Why is it that all the hot guys are the ones that die in these movies? Either way, they are really good at picking hot guys as Careers. First Cato and now this. . . I’m excited to see who gets to play his sister.

  22. Riley says:

i so happy! i wanted him as finnick but at least the has a role. and gloss is amazin
