Official – Jena Malone is Johanna Mason
It’s something we’ve suspected for a while, with rumors abounding and Josh Hutcherson letting Malone’s name slip in a recent interview, but Lionsgate has just confirmed – Jenna Malone has been cast as Johanna Mason!

JENA MALONE CAST AS JOHANNA MASON IN LIONSGATE’S THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE
Santa Monica, CA, July 23, 2012- Lionsgate® and the filmmakers of THE HUNGER GAMES:CATCHING FIRE are pleased to announce that Jena Malone has been cast in the role of Johanna Mason in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire. Johanna Mason is a female victor from a past Games still in her early twenties, and is one of the youngest, but also one of the most psychologically scarred Quarter Quell participants.
Malone recently starred opposite Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton in the History Channel’s Emmy® nominated mini-series Hatfields & McCoys. The mini-series broke cable records and is the new most-watched entertainment telecast of all time on cable. Her additional credits include Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch, Oren Moverman’s The Messenger, and Sean Penn’s Into the Wild. She will soon begin production on Lonely Hunter.

Don’t know much about her but she looks the part and the casting has been bang on so far, so I’ll go with it.
I love this but I kinda feel bad that Kristen Bell didn’t get the part because she REALLY REALLY wanted it. But maybe she could play one of the Morphlings. That would be really fun for her and the fans.
Yes Sir! I really wanted it to be true since I heard she was. She wasn’t my primary choice (It was Rooney Mara) but she’ll definitely do a great job! This also proves the point that “Rumors” are usually true when it comes to this movie, so I’ll just sit here and wait for Sam Claflin to get official.
Ok Josh now just go ahead and mention our Finnick’s name in an interview and I’ll be dandy. Sigh I have a feeling though that Lionsgate will keep it unofficial until like the last minute just to keep up the anticipation.

You do realise all these things can be changed don’t you? They can faketan her, they can make her look younger, and euum she’s already got black hair.
Please don’t be a hater, the important thing is that she’s a good actress, and she is.
Completely agreed with “Hunger Games, the movie sucked compared to the book” besides what the makeup team and wherever… can do to her they don´t do miracles, it won´t change a bit of my thoughts about how johanna would look like, jenna is a good actress but for me she seems to old for the paper i´m not an hater i just think she is not what i imagine johanna to be…
You know….people keep mentioning her needing to be tan, but I literally don’t recall ANY mention of her skin color in the books. Care to give a page number? Also, Johanna’s hair is brown, not black. As for the age, I think her age is fine given the fact that Jennifer, Josh, and Liam are all older than their characters.
And like ticktock said, they can make her tan. They can do all kinds of things to make her look more like Johanna. Remember how Jennifer Lawrence is blonde but Katniss isn’t? Shocking, I know.

She is perfect! They can change her to look more like Johanna. She looks Perfect enough already. They are making great decisions and age really doesn’t matter. The books didn’t say she was in her 20′s She was more likely to be in her 30′s. Dont hate you can always miss the movie no worrys Hunger Games still has a huge fan base.
