Official: Lynn Cohen is Mags in Catching Fire
We’re still waiting on news about Finnick, but in the meantime, Mags has been announced today by Lionsgate!
LYNN COHEN CAST AS MAGS IN LIONSGATE’S THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE
We finally have another official casting announcement. Lionsgate has today announced that Lynn Cohen will take on the role of Mags, the tribute from District 4 who goes into the Arena with Finnick Odair.

Santa Monica, CA, August 2, 2012- Lionsgate® and the filmmakers of THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE are pleased to announce that Lynn Cohen has been cast in the role of Mags in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel Catching Fire. A former mentor to Finnick Odair, Mags is an eighty year old Hunger Games victor from District 4.
Known to New York theater audiences for decades of memorable roles, Cohen has also appeared in critically acclaimed films such as Steven Spielberg’s Munich and Charlie Kaufman’s Synecdoche, NY, as well as commercial fare such as Sex and The City and its sequel. She can next be seen in They Came Together, with Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler.
The Hunger Games will be out on November 22, 2013
So what do you think? She looks like an amazing Mags to us. Now, if they’d just tell us who will be playing Finnick!!

Those Morphlings ARE going to be really hard. Hadn’t thought about the casting call until we got that subscription. Calling for all naturally skinny and/or anorexic/bulemic folks. AND, calling for yellow skinned folks that are very skinny, loose/bagging skin welcome.

to be honest acters a very good at changing for parts many actors have got very fat or evan become anerexic to get roles in films so it wont be to hard to find someone willing.
they already have peeta’s mom, she is played by Raiko Bowman.

I have to agree! This person is an unknown…but the role is basically non-speaking so I am thinking it is how well she can ‘act’ really old and walk with a cane.

This woman is a spectacular actress and I have no doubt that she will be wonderful as Mags. I am consistently impressed with the caliber of actors they are casting. Have my doubts about Sam, but haven’t seen him in much either.

Go to the top of the screen. Find the Gold banner for Catching Fire, select Character Profiles and find Mags. Check out the very first picture. Someone had already drawn her picture before this actress was selected. She is certainly someone’s idea of Mags.
I agree, she isn’t what I envisioned either. My vision was closer to Cicely Tyson.
