Philip Seymour Hoffman in Catching Fire

We reported about a month ago that Philip Seymour Hoffman had officially been offered the role of Plutarch Heavensbee in Catching Fire.  Now E! News is reporting that he has actually accepted the role and has signed on for The Hunger Games sequel.

According to the website:

“The deal was made right before the Fourth of July holiday,” one source said.
Lionsgate does not comment on casting until something is official. An announcement about Hoffman is expected to be released any day now.

Just in case you don’t remember, Heavensbee is the new Head Gamemaker after Seneca Crane was taken care of in The Hunger Games.
Catching Fire is due to start shooting in just a couple of months with Francis Lawrence taking over from Gary Ross.

So are you as excited as we are about Philip Seymour Hoffman taking on the role of Plutarch Heavensbee in Catching Fire?

I’m sure he will do a terrific job. However, I still hear Andre Braugher’s voice when I re-read MockinJay. He has always been Plutarch during my reads. Knowing that Hoffman was offered the role, I now see Hoffman but still hear Braugher’s voice. Very weird!
