POLL – Who should play Finnick Odair in Catching Fire
It doesn’t matter that the movie adaptation of Catching Fire is still more than two years away, fans have been pretty busy putting forward suggestions for who they think should play Finnick Odair in the November 2013 release. In fact, it’s probably our number one hit-upon story since news of the relase date for Catching Fire.
One actor who says he’d love to play Finnick is Colton Haynes. He carried out a Twitter session with fans in which he was asked whether he’d be interested in playing the part. He responded that he’s a fan of the series and would love to play the role. As he also said though .. “Who knows!”

I think that he would be a great actor but not for Finnick because he doesnt look any thing like the book describes him as and i think that you could find someone way better. But if it comes to it i guess he would be an ok actor.

I don’t image that guy up there, like Finnick. I want that one guy from The nine lives of Chloe king, because he is hot, good actor, and just has the look. When you think of it, he seems like the dreamy Finnick, being caught up with girls, but only in love with one. Plus he has a hot accent. I also would like Alex, 1 because I want him to be in this movie, 2 because he shoiuld have gotten Peeta in this movie, and Jace in City of Bones, (Instead of Girly-man Jamie Campbell Bower, Team Jlex!) 3 Because if I lived in the capitol, I would be drooling over him, 4 because if this man isn’t in the movie it’s going to be a lame, stupid, horrible, terrible, untastble movie with bad actors, bad characters from a beautiful heart throbing book, and will quite frankily, Katniss sucks, Peeta sucks, Gale sucks, Prim sucks, everybody does, save fricking Cato, Clove, Glitter, Thresh, and Rue! I mean look at the sound track, seriously, they put Jack Black in there! When the obvious choice was more in music with alot of meaning that could compare and relate to the movie, we hunger game fans just want to have a nice hot Finnick to ease our minds off of the bad choices from the rest of the movies.
are we reading the same books and did we watch the same movie? because jennifer, josh, liam, willow and everybody acted superbly in my opionion. they each captured the essence of each character spot on. from the bravery and passion of katniss, the integrity and love of peeta, to the innocence and vonerablilty of prim. each character in the hunger games is deep and personally has a place in my heart. i think each actor fulfilled the feel and message each character gives to the story. i didn’t imagine them any different. so my question is if they were horrible actors, who would you rather have played them? not based on appearance because i’m sure we all imagined the characters differently, but based on talent and passion. i personally think no one could have done better. even if you disagree…you should try to respect it becuase obviously these actors were picked by the amazing suzanne collins who created the characters in the first place. i’m sure she understand who should play them better than anyone. at least she thought they were amazing.

I definitely prefer Colton over the other options but I still stand behind Garrett Hedlund. Mostly because I feel like he’s age appropriate but also has more experience than someone his age. He looks too young. Zac Efron would be my perfect finnick! Exact eyes and hair and skin I pictured and he can definitely act charming in the movie but also deep.
He’s 23…I don’t think that’s too young, and everybody should check out more photos of this guy, really. He has a Finnick thing….

I agree with syd! All the characters don’t look anything like I pictured! I don’t think this movie will be that great because the characters. Plus almost every movie is not exactly like the book. At least we have a confirmation of the sequel catching fire. This means the movie has to be some what the same!
I REALLY hope they do a good job with this film.
Another point: I loved the Percy Jackson series! Lionsgate was in charge of making the film or whatever and the movie stinks! It is nothing like the book and I don’t think there making a sequel! They had 5 books to make a really good series and look what they did. I was very upset about that!

I disagree. I love the characters. I think they look perfect and I know they are good actors. If they weren’t then how come Suzanne Collins said she would have cast josh even if he had purple hair and wings. Gary Ross said that Jennifer was so moving as an actress and that that kind of stuff just amazed him. This movie is going to be amazing!

I still think alex pettyfer. I think benjamen stone doesn’t really have the look. Colton would be fine to but I thought Finnick would have hair like alex. My opinion.
I really, really do not want to see Alex or Benjamin in this franchise. Alex is like Megan Fox, pretty but a buzz kill on set (so they say). Benjamin is ugly and is a terrible actor IMO. Colton seems like he has the acting chops, and he has the looks (personally, if he can act well, I wouldn’t care if he had green hair). Garret is a nice suggestion, as well. But we’ll see. I just don’t think SC and GR would ever cast Alex or Ben for Finnick. But you never know. They’ve nailed the cast so far, I’d hate for them to ruin it now (or whenever they cast for CF). I trust their opinion, though. :/

Ok Finnick is not that old he was 14 when he won in the 65th hunger games. So it’s the 75th hunger games now, so how old is he??? 24!!! And Zac Efron would be perfect because he is turning 24 in October so he would still be 24 by the time they start casting!

I think finnick should be played by shaun sipos. He was in the CW’s Life UNexpected and melrose place…he looks just like finnick should, he;s incredibly hot and is a very good actor

Colton is good, but he has to dye his hair orangish-blonde, and his eyes need to become gorgeous green….
And I DOUBT that Suzanne Collins, or Gary Ross, or Lionsgate will miscast Finnick, when they got us such an AMAZING Katniss, and beautiful Prim and PERFECT Peeta…

I was thinking of Matt Lanter (who plays Liam on 90210) but only if he beefed up a bit. Despite the fact that he’s 28, he looks like hes in his younger 20s, which is how old Finnick is.
I think Justin Hartley would be a good pick also (if he dyed his hair), because he has the hot/cocky quality about him. He’s 10 years older than Finnick but they can make him look younger.
They are NEVER going to cast Zac Efron for Finnick. He’s not right. I’ve seen him act and no way can he do a good tortured Finnick. Plus he’s far too well known. So far they’ve gone under the radar mostly. I think I’d be okay with GH but I’d like to throw forward Chase Crawford.

Personally, I don’t care about who “LOOKS” like Finnick Odair. Josh Hutcherson is the furthest thing away from Peeta Mellark’s description but he got us there because of his acting. Acting wise/skill wise, I say Ryan Gosling is the best Finnick Odair we could hope for.

I all ready heard that they had already started working on it. And on another point, the pg 13 version was good but one it comes out on disc it should have the R version like the book, i know that millions would pay most just to see the R version too! I would!
