Portrait of The Hunger Games Cast from Comic Con
Entertainment Weekly asked The Hunger Games cast (along with other cast members from a bunch of other TV shows and movies) to pose for them in their San Diego studio over the course of the Comic Con event.
This one shows Jack Quaid (Marvel), Alexander Ludwig (Cato), Dayo Okeniyi (Thresh), Amandla Stenberg (Rue) and Willow Shields (Prim) depicted as dead or alive. To be honest, I find it a little unsettling. It underlines that all of the characters, apart from Prim, are now gone. It’s a great shot, but a bit… I don’t know… strange.
Let us know what you think.

Seeing Rue made me sad.
I think it is highly appropriate and WAY past time.
This series is about war, death, violence, and fighting so that young people won’t ever have to go through this again. It’s what makes it real.
I could not believe how many ComicCon interviewers asked the dead tributes about their feelings about the sequel. Were they excited, etc.
They literally had to tell them, their characters were deceased. They wouldn’t be coming back for the sequel.
You’re right. It is one of the very few (if not, only) shots I’ve seen that is real about what The Hunger Games is really about.
if you haven’t read the book then this picture should spoil you something
I think the shot is great and extremely appropriate.
wow, thats neat. Bye, Bye, Rue
i like it because it sends the message of the books
It’s disturbing but it’s the truth of the books.
to be honest… I love the picture…. i think it’s really cool!
but then it did kinda hit me that they will never be returning in the movies… so sad…. R.I.P Rue!!! xoxo
Rue looks so peaceful
I agree! Both her and Marvel look appropriate. Cato looks like he nodded off and Thresh looks like he is praying or medidating.
Still, the following movies have to get darker to be true to the books. About time it starts being addressed.
EW probably couldn’t guess the true impact of this photo. It’s so sad; look how peaceful Rue is. They symbolize children that have been outright murdered just to prove a point and it’s just.. incredibly striking. Prim may be the only one alive in that picture but we all know her eventual fate – which just adds another layer to it.
Damn.
Maybe they DO understand the impact and want people to realize what to movie and books are really about. The follow-ups will get even darker. MockingJay starts out by walking through the ashes of bodies destroyed during the bombing.
It has to be faced sometime. I think now is a great time to start.
WARNING:spoilers!!!!
YES THE PIC, WILL SOON CHANGE!
I think its a good picture… the message is clear and it makes sense. Sure its a bit different than most out there but this is a book about violence and death and justice. I’ll admit at first it came across a bit eerie, you know, since they’re dead (the characters) but I think its appropriate.
poor rue! rip rue:(
Why do they always put so much make up on Willow? Every picture I see of her she has it gobbed on. She would look so much more in character (the pure sister) without it.
well this is going by the movies, so if your going by books they might as well all have they’re hands crossed … you’d have have to have read mockingjay though
rue made me cry :’(
LOL Everyone Only cares about RUE LOL I’ll miss her in the next one but same with the others!!!!!!
OH WAIT DON’T THINK I HATE RUE I LOVE HER SHE IS ONE OF MY FAV’S!!!!!!
I like it. They should make a photo of all the characters in the series and then it will become even more powerful of what the true meaning of THG is.
Is my math correct? 75 years of Hunger Games, 23 dead tributes per year, plus 24 more for the 50th when the doubled the number of tributes = 1,749 dead tributes? Between the ages of 12 and 18.
Wow! That shear number is VERY disturbing.
9/11 victims death toll = 2,752.
yep, your correct i checked by doing the math myself.
rue looks like she accepted her death, cato looks like he’s sleeping, thresh looks like he’s praying, marvel looks the same but asleep forever, and prim looks like she is detirmined to do something and she reminds of katniss with the look of determination on her face.
i also think that two arms crossed aganist your chest means your deceased and one arm means your still alive, but your trying to fight through something. For Prim she will be trying to fight through that Katniss has to go back to the arena. My opinion
i realy like it. i think it is very artistic and a good interpritation of an artists veiws on the tributes deaths.
