RUMOR: Wilbur Fitzgerald is Cray in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
Is this Cray in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire?
While we know who we can expect to see playing most of the roles in Catching Fire, there are a few characters in the book that were missing from the role call.
One of those is Cray, the District 12 Peacekeeper who is replaced by Romulus Thread.
It seems, though, that we may be seeing Cray in Catching Fire. Fellow fansite HG Fireside Chat has managed to uncover that Wilbur Fitzgerald is listed as playing the part. Apparently Fitzgerald’s talent agency has him down for the role in his profile page.
Just as a refresher, Cray was the head Peacekeepr at District 12. He is described in the book to be older with a few strands of silvery hair combed sideways over his unusually red face. He is generally disliked in District 12 as he is known for paying young women to sleep with him. He’s also a heavy drinker and Gale’s best costumer for poached wild turkeys. However, as the district finds out the hard way, he was also a lot kinder than the Peacekeeper that eventually replaces him. Gale goes to sell a turkey to Cray only to find out that Romulus Thread is now in charge (we will leave it there in case you haven’t read the book and don’t want to know what happens next!).
So is this how you pictured Cray? Let us know in the comments below.

Ok I’m confused. I thought casting was “complete” back when y’all announced it a couple of months ago? I thought filming was almost complete, as well. Have Cray’s scenes not been filmed yet? And on that note, are we 100% positive we won’t see a glimpse of Annie in CF? I mean no disrespect or offense, just want to clarify. Thanks!
Even with a “complete” cast, it is still possible to add new members. Then again, maybe he was already cast for Catching Fire, and we’re just now hearing about it as a “rumor”. Annie makes her first appearance in Mockingjay, and she is only mentioned in Catching Fire. Either way, her role in this movie wasn’t deemed important enough to have an actress.
I agree that she isn’t an important character in Catching Fire, they if they do show glimpses of the other reapings it was stated that she was called for the female tribute and Mags took her place. On top of that, the scene with the Jabberjays says that her voice is used to get Finnick unhinged so I would think that they might cast her for these small details now, but as you said she doesn’t make a huge step into the story until the victors are rescued from The Cap.
It wouldn’t (or shouldn’t) be hard at all just to use a woman’s voice and manipulate it. I’d say seeing the other district reapings won’t last long, so we more than likely wouldn’t be seeing “Annie”, anyway. But at least we can look forward to her casting for Mockingjay Part 1. (=
I can seee it…I’m not so sure I imagined him much older than 20, but…hey, it’s good.
I can see it the trick is not to picture what your saw in your head as you read the books but to look at there face and see if you could picture them being the character. I can see it. Also I checked IMDB and he’s listed on there. I don’t think anything is set in stone till the filming is done.
I thin it is really really creepy that he is said to pay women to sleep with him. That just creeps me out and especially the fact of how old he is.
