Rumor: Sam Caflin still in talks for Finnick Odair in Catching Fire
While we received official word from Lionsgate about the role of Mags in Catching Fire, the one we all really want to know, is who will be playing her fellow tribute Finnick Odair.
The rumor for a long time now has been that the role will go Sam Claflin – which seems more and more likely now.
Deadline is reporting that there had been a conflict for Sam with the filming dates, but that these have now been cleared, leaving Caflin in line to play Finnick
I’m guessing Lionsgate will leave the announcement for Finnick Odair right up until the end. But with filming due to get underway sometime next month, an announcement can’t be too far away.

I said in a comment here before that he’s mediocre, didn’t I? Well I’ve changed my mind. He’s the FLAWLESS Finnick. I watched some interviews, he did great with his role in Snow White And The Huntsman, some photos, and he’s got a mesmerizing smile, perfect eyes which are already green, his hair is even light brown which won’t need much to become bronze red. I advise everybody to stop being like “OMG NO I WANTED GARRETT HEDLUND” and start trying to like this guy because rumors have never been stronger about any other Finnick candidate, so if he IS going to be Finnick, we’ll need to actually stop complaining our dream guy didn’t get the role and start wishing the good man good luck.

It’s nice to know that at least someone has changed their mind about him. It’s a bit disheartening to see comment after comment on the net about how he’s going to ruin the film etc.
I love him and if he plays Finnick I will be the happiest fan in the world he is flawless and oh so gorgeous!!!!!!

I looked Sam up on IMBD.com to see what movies he’s been in and they have him as Finnick in catching fire. So I think they have already asked him and he said yes. I still don’t see him being Finnick :/
I see Finnick having dark brown hair, tall, and a lot of muscles. That’s probably different from every one elses picture of him, so I don’t think he’s right for Finnick.
Hmm, his hair is described as bronze, though that could be brown, reddish, or even with a touch of blonde.
As for build, Sam’s apparantly 5’11 or so but they can make him look taller if need be with camera angles etc. I thought Woody Harrelson was a giant until I found out he’s “only” 5’10, because of how he looked during his first scene in THG. And I’m pretty sure whoever is cast as Finnick will bulk up a bit for the role.
I think Ian Somerhalder should play Finnick.I really think he is perfect for this role.I mean just imagine him asking(with his specific ‘Damon Salvatore Charm’) Katniss if she wants a sugar cube.Sam isn’t a bad actor,but he doesn’t seem to fit in this Finnick Odair role.Don’t you think?
so if Sam Claflin gets to play Finnick, does that mean Astrid Bergès-Frisbey can be Annie? Maybe? Please?
