Both Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars will be having live performances at the Grammy Awards…unfortunately not together and not performing the first release from The Hunger Games movie soundtrack, Safe and Sound.
Taylor Swift is nomiated for Best Country Album, best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song for “Mean” while The Civil Wars are nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance and Best Folk Album.
The Civil Wars had a chat to The Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy about their collaboration on The Hunger Games album as well as their rapid rise in the music industry.
They told the WSJ how the Taylor Swift collaboration came about:
How that happened is we were out on the West Coast touring. We had already worked on a song with T Bone Burnett on an original song for that soundtrack. Taylor had become fan and friend of ours and kept in touch. When they found out we were close by and she and T Bone were getting ready to write a song for “The Hunger Games” they decided to give us a call and see if we wanted to do it with them, which worked out pretty well. We went to Los Angeles, went over, and a couple hours later the song was finished, and maybe an hour and a half later we had finished tracking guitars and all the vocals and went out and did our show that night.
You can now pre-order The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond as well as the score to The Hunger Games movie. Both albums will be out on March 20
