The CW Joins Dystopian Trend With ‘The Selection’ Adaptation
Looks like the CW is giving the green like to start the adaption of Kiera Cass’ dystopian novel “The Selection” Based on the trilogy-to-be by Kiera Cass, the plot of “The Selection” reads like the setup for “The Bachelor” with a dystopian twist: 35 girls are selected to compete for the affections of a handsome, aristocratic prince, a competition that promises wealth, happiness and an escape from the lifetime of poverty and struggle that most citizens face. Seeing as how the first book doesn’t even hit shelves till April 2012 CW might be on to something with their rush to pick the series up.

I really love my dystopian novels, and I suppose I’ll have to read it to find out. But as of right now, the whole “The Bachelor” premise is not pulling me in.
It sound like something I want to audition for.
It also reminds me of Princess Academy by Shannon Hale. I love that book, so maybe this one’ll be good.
I wonder if dystopian films really are becoming a trend. Unwind by Neal Shusterman has an adaptation in the works, and that’s my favorite dystopian novel. I guess we’ll see.
So they are making a movie out of a book that isn’t out yet or they might I don’t get it. And @Cimone I was thinking about gettin Unwind for my nook it looked so good I just need to get some money on it.
It sounds really boring and it isn’t something I am going to try. The bachelor is stupid and I hate it when a group of guy’s/girls are all competing for one partner. A competion to ‘win’ someones love is putting yourself on a lower level because you think the ‘prize’ is worth competing for and you are less cause you have to compete… Nope this is not for me.
@Renee: That’s why it’s dystopian. It’s putting competitions like that in a negative light. Otherwise it would be eutopian. If you don’t like the bachelor, than this novel is exactly for you.
@Love of Peeta: That’s great! I’m such a huge fan! If you do the forums here, you may want to check out the “Unwind the movie” forum in the “Other Books” section. And “The Selection” is gonna be a tv series, not a movie. But the book will be out by the time it premieres.
