I nearly fainted when i saw it!! I had doubts, but it’s better than i imagined!! So excited!!!

    • ayse says:

I KNOW! its the prefect teaser! hate the people who are complaining about not being able to see Finnick, the Quarter Quell, the arena, like hello its called a teaser for a reason!
its better like this anyway, it questions the audience “ohhh i wonder what they’re going to do, if all the victors pose a threat”
it is the perfect teaser, besides they’ll probably show more when the official trailer comes out and tv spots just like they did in The Hunger Games.

  2. Elizabeth Seeds says:

IM CATCHING ON FIRE. LOOKS AMAZING. november hurry up. I just keep watching it over and over and over!!

  3. LB says:

Loved it! I don’t have cable, so thanks for putting it up so quickly. My mom, my siblings, and I watched it several times. Can’t wait until November!

  4. I am kind if disappointed that they didn’t show one thing about the quarter quell. But I guess it will be a good suprise to all of those who haven’t read the book. But still

    • Mark says:

It’s not just a “good surprise” it’s a whole plot point that would have been completely spoiled for anyone who hasn’t read the book. Even though I, myself, would have loved to see something, I am completely fine and happy they didn’t show anything of it just because of what it would have done.

    • MyHungerGames says:

They didn’t show any arena footage in The Hunger Games trailer either – so I wasn’t really surprised they didn’t include it in this one as well.

    • Alie says:

I said the same thing, there is nothing about the quarter quell which makes me wonder if it’s going to be in 2 parts.

  5. Anton R says:

I’m still worried about the movie, I feel like this trailer was not enough to determine if it will follow the story or if it will crack under pressure…

  6. ayse says:

omg! im at school and my schools internet has blocked any type of video, so i am basicly dying right now!!!!!!!! i have to wait until school finnishes and after work! ughhhh!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Andrea says:

Im in love with this trailer, watched it over and over!!! Best teaser trailer ive ever seen!!! I cant wait for catching fire to come out on November!!!! <33333

  8. Sebastian says:

This trailer is absolutely stunning. It’s a fantastic teaser trailer that shows Francis Lawrence’s film style and I absolutely love the way it was showed and portrays the first half of the Catching Fire storyline. The fact that the Quater Quell was not shown but instead, they talk about the victors being invincible and that they must do something about it, pretty much shows that must create something that leads to the events of the Quater Quell. This teaser trailer makes Catching Fire look like a four hour movie since no Arena, Training Center, and Tribute Parade scenes was shown. I was completely overwhelmed by it and I am satisfied with it.
Props to the Catching Fire marketing team.

People are bummed about the not mentioning the Quater Quell and not showing any of the victors faces, but friendly reminder that this is a TEASER trailer 😉 More of the Catching Fire storyline is yet to be revealed perhaps this summer or fall 😛

  9. sabrina hor says:

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEST, TRAILER, EVER! AND ALOT MORE ACTION!!!!!! YEAAAAAAH, THIS IS DEF GONNA BE AS EPIC AS THE BOOK!

  10. Loads more drama, than the first one ans in the books but I still love it. Maybe when the official trailer comes out, they’ll show some of the quarter quell. :) I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW, November please hurry up.

May the odds be ever In our FAVOUR!!!!!!!!!! 😀 😉

  11. Mark says:

I just can’t get enough of President Snow’s “evil” laugh. Great job Donald Sutherland, great job.
Also, was it ever revealed in the books that Snow planted the third Quarter Quell card that read the victors would return to fight? At the end of the trailer they basically implied that he had indeed. Seems like a huge coincidence if he hadn’t planted it with him wanted the victors wiped out and all.

    • Esme says:

As it was always from Katniss’ point of view it was only a theory but I actually believe they did when reading the book and the films are trying to show more than just katniss as we can’t read her mind so I think it was a good choice :)

    • KJ says:

Yeah. I am thinking that Donald Sutterland will get an acadamy nod for this one. It will be a ‘Best Supporting Actor’ but…he definitely wins best Villian for MTV awards.

    • KJ says:

The maniacal look of rightousness, as he is answering Plutarch’s question, ‘Her species, Sir?’ ‘The other Victors!’

    • KJ says:

‘Zealot’ in his machiavellian way of thinking.

    • KJ says:

Today, I just noticed that the two conversations of Pres Snow and Plutarch are not at the same time. Their clothes are different, Plutarch is standing in the second shot. Hmmmm. The plot thickens.

  12. VeRoNiCa says:

Read all the books and loved them. Can’t wait to watch the movie to see how close they get to the book itself. November hurry up!!!!

  13. Shelbi G. says:

I AM STUNNED. I woke up really early in the morning to watch this before school, so I’ll have to put in my two cents later.

  14. Leigh Key says:

Looks like it is staying true to the book. Unfortunately I’ve read the second and third already. Wished I had only read the second. Don’t want to wait till November either! The second and third are so different, more political, way more of a story and involved. Truly a story that could be place in recent day.

  15. Leigh Key says:

….and so glad it looks like the characters will stay mostly the same.
Anyone know who will play Finnick?

  16. KJ says:

November 22 is 221 days away. Where is the clock? The one that looks like the areana but is counting down the days, hours, minutes until the release?

This looks really good. Yes, they are changing it up but that is to be expected as we can’t hear Katniss’ thoughts.

BTW, Am I the only one that is having problems not seeing Katniss as Tiffany (Silver Linings Playbook)? With her hair darker for CF, I seem to be struggling with that. Will have to get started on re-reading CF to get my mind off that thought.

    • Mark says:

You may be the only one. I LOVED Silver Linings Playbook, but didn’t have that problem in the least. I can see where your mind’s drawing that connection though. Katniss definitely looks quite different with her darker hair.

    • Michelle says:

I didn’t see SLP yet but I am having difficulty with the darker hair also!. I was hoping it just looked darker on line/pics but would look normal on screen.

      • Mark says:

Yeah, it is odd in comparative to the first movie and it will be something that all or most of us will have to spend some time to get used to.

      • KJ says:

For me, it is only when she has her hair down and the combination of her hair and the dark eyebrows. When she is in braid, not so much of an issue.

But then she gets called back to do the shots in New Jersey in the Snow where she is looking pensive and her brows are nearly back to normal for her. Much better.

  17. KJ says:

The other thing that strikes me…is that Prim didn’t say those words in CF that I can remember. It wasn’t really until Mockingjay when she and Katniss have their ‘talk’ while in the underground shelter. She seems to be taking on a stronger role, which explains why Willow Shields keeps saying as much each time she is interviewed.

  18. KJ says:

After watching this about 10 times, I am now getting goose bumps when Pres Snow speaks about iradicating their species and then says, ‘ Because of her, they all pose a threat. Because of her, they think they are invincible’.

  19. KJ says:

How far are we away from this, really? Ohio and Florida are throwing people into debtor prisons because they can’t pay. Texas wants to succeed from the US and is buying up every firearm and ammunition available. I’m sure other states are having similar issues. North Korea is threatening nuking the world, or selling their nukes to someone who will end the world.

    Where does this end?

  20. may the odds be ever in your favour says:

im over the hyperventalating, screaming, go compleatly physho mode…….. i mean i live in ireland and i had to get up at 3 AM to see it live (i have no regrets) but me very, very tired! anyway im happy they only showed the first half of the trailer it gives you a taste but not too much! AMAZING! (i HAD to go on here and say this because i havent been on here in ages!)

  21. Shelbi G. says:

    Ok, here goes:

    1. I think I dig Francis Lawrence’s vision! It seems like we’re going to get a good balance of details not in the books with a still loyal plot. I also love the different perspectives (Not just Katniss’s) and the awesome Capital scenery. It feels very real and believable as a future version of our country.

    2. I am all for the noticeable absence of any Quarter Quell material. Whether it shows up in a future trailer or even only in the full movie, people who haven’t read the books are going to be in for a surprise– it increases the suspense and beefs up the story.

    3. I like the darker tone and the modified Capital. It seems a little more extravagant, and at the same time, a little less superficial than it did in the last movie. As I said before, more believable.

And now it’s time to play the trailer so many times that I’ll have it memorized, and scream an unhealthy amount of times while driving my family crazy, and not be able to focus on homework.

    Sorry for the LONG post!!

  22. Aranielle says:

It looks like a good movie, but I’m always disappointed when books aren’t followed more closely. :/

  23. OMIGOD!!!!!!!! I FREAKIN’ LOVED IT!!! i just watched it 6 times and i havent gotten tired of it once!
i also noticed the lack of quarter quell info but at the end, the guys like ” i agree she should die, but in the right place, at the right time” who is this guy! so this hints a little to the people who have not read the trilogy(i have!) but doesnt give away to much.. i cannot wait till nov. 22!!! its going to be a total blowout, francis has done well! im going to watch it a 7th time now!
    p.s. i totally agree with Shelby G.

  24. It's The Hunger Games♥ says:

Why did the peacekeeper pull a gun on her, isn’t he supposed to whip her….

    • KJ says:

Well, in the book she was trying to block the next whipping for Gale and got hit with the tip of the whip when the guy pulled it back at the last second. Still cut up her face.

As the movie is switching things up, this shows us how desperate she is getting…and that she doesn’t want to fight anymore. She doesn’t yet know she is headed back to the Quarter Quell. That she is going to have an epiphany at some point, that takes her to the decision to fight.

  25. Maddie says:

What do you guys think of the new peacekeeper uniforms? Yay or nay?

    • KJ says:

Funny you should mention that. When I saw the excentuated ribcage my first thought was ‘dementors’…which sort of fits. Peacekeepers suck the ‘life’ out of people.

    • Mark says:

I’m liking the uniforms and the costume design as a whole. I’m impressed at the moment with our new director.

  26. Cameron says:

It’s very hard to beat the first movie but it still looks incredible :)

  27. Clove Sevina ∞ says:

When i saw this on ytv i had a heart attack. i started screaming! lol good times. i cant wiat! asdfhjk;; i m so excited my hands are shakngg

  28. have they chosen the person to be mags yet?

    • KJ says:

Yes. Go check out the Cast Countdown, in the upper right hand corner of this site. If not there anymore, it is in the menu for the site.

  31. Mark says:

I still can’t wrap my head around how this is a teaser trailer. I’m a big time movie fan and from many years of experience I haven’t seen such a content filled trailer be a teaser. Fan service?

    • KJ says:

I know what you mean. There is a stunning amount of content, mapping out the story line, in just that 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

I was thinking they could pretty much show this, and then start the movie with the gun pointed at Katniss and her saying, ‘Go ahead.’. The next 90 minutes could take off from that point and be mostly about the Quarter Quell.

Would definitely be a new take. Not sequentially unfolding but more quick flashbacks and catch-ups while moving towards the Quell. It would surely be a way to cut down the size of the movie.

    • KJ says:

Also, what an incredible job of editing! Very well crafted, not a wasted nano-second anywhere. Top of the line.

If the editor and Donald Sutterland aren’t part of the Oscars for 2014, there will be something VERY wrong with that whole system.

  32. KJ says:

    General Points:

    1. Superb editing throughout but… ‘Become a beacon of hope…’ — showing the children’s faces…killer.
    2. Effie get’s a new catch phrase, ‘Chins up, Smiles on!’
    3. Weird thing: How the music stops and then starts again…but I like how dramatic it is and almost a death march.
    4. THE kiss, takes place in The HOB area.
    5. Even when the screen was dark, the words were chilling.
    6. Effie’s hands fluttering around them upon their introduction…how estatically happy she is to have winners, conveyed so simply.
    7. IMO, even if you never saw the first movie, you would be interested in seeing the next one…based on this trailer.

  33. KJ says:

The sound is saying ‘Because of her, they all pose a threat….think they are invincible.’ But on the screen, we are seeing a picture of Katniss looking more vulnerable, more trapped, than we have ever seen her.

Before, she had spunk, moxy. Now she understands the consequences of her actions but not how to find a solution that will satisfy everyone.

  34. ohhhhhhhhhhhh im so exited i had a heart attack when i saw the first trailer for catching fire and i’ve watched it like 1 billion times

    • KJ says:

Actually, I think they are working really hard to make sure the finished product (1.5 hrs) is as good as that trailer was…2 minutes and 30 seconds worth.

Editing that 2:30 trailer probably took at around a month (for this purpose we will say 160 hrs) to complete. With it done, they built allot of base work they can reuse for everything else going forward. The editors have to take the raw film which is in the range of 300 hrs of tape to 600 hrs of tape, craft together a story line as laid out by the director and Suzanne Collins. It will be about 16 hrs long if they are lucky, then they have to cut and craft it down to between 90 minutes and 120 minutes. Multiple reviews, revisions, cuts, additions…compile the approved completed version, add background graphics, changes to lighting, final cut on the music score.

All said, I want a good QUALITY movie that I take the time to see multiple times. Not a bad movie that came out quickly and makes me stop coming back…ever.

      My opinion, of course.

  36. Mark says:

Huh, interesting enough I showed this to a friend who never read the books, but has seen The Hunger Games and he was confused by the trailer. I tried to explain in a non-spoiler manner and he was still confused by it.

    • KJ says:

Confused how? In that he didn’t know the story continued? He didn’t know life in District 12 got worse and then there was a rebellion?

All of those would be possible if he hasn’t read the books. Was it something else?

Did he enjoy the action of the trailer? Is he interested in seeing CF?

      • Mark says:

He didn’t get why everyone was after Katniss (and Peeta, maybe) and couldn’t grasp the concept of what was going on and why in general the things were happening/going down. He also didn’t get what the Capitol was doing to attack Katniss. I explained the best I could, but it didn’t seem get anywhere for some reason. He ended the conversation with, “it’s all really confusing. I don’t have all of the details like you” He didn’t say anything else of it. I gave as much details I could without spoiling things. He liked THG, but is conflicted whether he’s interested in this or not as of now. He’ll probably end up seeing it.

  37. yisela says:

the movies are confusing if you havent read the books, just tell your friend to read THG. simplest solution in my opinion
