The Hunger Games DVD – Making District 12′s Fiery Costumes

When The Hunger Games DVD comes out in less than two weeks, we’ll get to not just see the movie again (and again) but all of the behind the scenes action and just what went into making the movie.

One of the features is designing the costumes – but especially the flaming chariot ride outfits.  Vulture has an exclusive sneak peek at that part of the video.  You can head to their site to check it out.

Well, this exclusive bonus feature clip from The Hunger Games Blu-ray and DVD set (due out Saturday, August 18) might help. Proving no detail is too small when you’re in charge of adapting a mega best seller into a mega blockbuster, director Gary Ross and visual effects supervisor Sheena Duggal explain how they mastered Katniss and Peeta’s memorable “firewings” effect. Apparently, it’s a process that included several rounds of concept art; hours of debate; and a digitally rendered naked, bald, and areolae-less Josh Hutcherson. May the bod be ever in your favor, indeed.
