Alex Pettyfer in Peeta Talks – The Hunger Games Movie
Alex Pettyfer gets a big tick of approval from many fans of The Hunger Games as the actor they’d most like to play the character of Peeta Mellark in the upcoming movie.
And it seems they may get their wish, with word that the 20-year-old has talked to The Hunger Games movie director Gary Ross.
He talked about the possibility that he could play the role of Peeta Mellark to J-14
“I met with Lionsgate. I think Gary Ross is a great director,” he said. “I have [read the books]. I’m a very big fan. I just hope they can conquer the movie.”
Casting for The Hunger Games movie is in early days and there’s yet to be any announcements. Filming should start later this spring for a release date set for March 23, 2012.

I think he can play Peeta, anyone can look younger with some make-up. His eyes aren’t the right color but that can be changed with contacts, and I’m okay with anyone but Kristen Stewart playing Katniss.

like everyone else said, he’s too old but these days, all actors are too old for their roles =/ if he’s that old, Gale will have to be older.
NO! He is too old for the part and he’s to fierce to be Peeta. He’s too well known to be Peeta as well, they need someone “unknown” for Peeta and Katniss, or otherwise they’d just be too compared to the other roles they have been in. Make-up can fix many things now-a-days, but you can’t get him to act like he’s in high school anymore. He’s grown out of those roles now. Sorry to some of his major fans, but I say no.
It’s possible. I certainly wouldn’t mind if he was Peeta, but if he wasn’t I wouldn’t be chucking a tantrum or anything. He could look the part, but acting as a sweet, naïve boy will be a challenging task for him that he might want to consider. He’s done a lot of hero or anti-hero roles so for him to be able to pull that off will be a challenge.
But yes, I do agree with a lot of other people, a whole completely unknown cast is a great idea! This will be the only chance for some actors out there, and I think those people really deserve it. For me, completely unknown sounds really good. Those people will get a really good shot at the entertainment industry. For those who are relatively unknown, sure, I wouldn’t complain, but if we’re going to have unknowns, I think it’d be better to give the completely unknown actors a shot because sometime, now or later, those who are relatively unknown can have their shot, but for now, I think it’d be a great idea to have a whole new cast.
So, whatever they do, I won’t complain, and I look forward to the movie, whatever the case.
From what I’ve seen in the trailers for I Am Number Four i think he has alot of potential, however he does seem a little old for the part of Peeta.
Chloe Moretz as Katniss. She’s the one. She 14 and looks at least 16. She’ll need the least amount of rehearsal because of her action role as Hit Girl, and her dramatic role in Let Me In. Also she’s just come of the Scorise Hugo fiilm. Her appearing in this role will help the success of the films

Let’s face it people, Hugh Laurie is mostly likely to be Haymitch, Kaya S, for Katniss, and Peeta for the one and only, (Sexyst man in the world) Alex Pettyfur, he’s big this year. It all depends on who plays Katniss. If they pick someone around the age of Hailee Steinfield(14) or Chloe Moretz(14), they have to go with someone younger like Callan McAuliffe(16) because having a twenty year old like Alex or a guy like Hunter Parish would be downright awkward and kind of disturbing. However, if they pick someone like Jeniffer Lawrence or Kaya S, they would obviously have to pick an older dude because having McAuliffe play Peeta would be weird. So it really depends on how old the actress who plays Katniss is.
I want Kaya Scodelario to play Katniss and she is 18. Like I said before I think they would look good as a couple.(peeta & katniss) Chloe would be a horrible mistake as katniss!

Alex Pettyfer, Hunter Parrish, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth have all expressed interest in the Peeta role, but none of them seems particularly right for it. Pettyfer doesn’t have the charm needed for the role. Hutcherson doesn’t look the part. Parrish doesn’t seem grounded enough. Chord Overstreet is pretty much like Peeta. I have seen peeta mellark photo and chord. First reaction, i though they were twins.

With Lawrence instilled at Katniss, Ross’ Peeta will likely be announced soon. Alex Pettyfer, Hunter Parrish, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth have all expressed interest in the Peeta role, but none of them seems particularly right for it. Pettyfer doesn’t have the charm needed for the role. Hutcherson doesn’t look the part. Parrish doesn’t seem grounded enough. And, while Hemsworth wouldn’t be a terrible choice, they could do much better. Austin Butler, for example, would be a fantastic choice, as would Chord Overstreet if he didn’t have the Glee tour this summer.

R U ALL IDIOTS! Jus cause he looks old doesen’t mean makeup can’t make him look younger. When i saw his picture up top I didn’t recognize him. Look at him in I am number four much younger and better looking. People that say JOSH HUCHERSON should play the role are gay! The girl playing Katniss looks like she can take him. Peeta in the book is very stern and muscular as he worked in the bakery with ovens as they described in book 1! And Josh doesent even have blond hair!!! And THE GUY FROM I AM NUMBER FOUR TOTALLY LOOKS LIKE PEETA. THE PICTURE UP TOP IS DIFFERENT HE HAS SHORTER HAIR NOW JUST TYPE HIS NAME INTO GOOGLE!!
i really like alex pettyfer <3 but i think they should really put in some unknown actrs and actreses that would make it bettr

Alex Pettyfer is such a better Peeta than Josh Hutcherson!!!! Josh does look the part at all! And Josh and Alex are about the same age soo… why does it matter? Haha buut seriously. Alex Pettyfer is gorgeous and just has that Peeta look. I love Alex Pettyfer as Peeta!!!!!!
I really really really really like alex pettyfer but he just doesnt seem right for the part of Peeta. sure he can get a make over and stuff but to me he’s better for finnick odair. if they decide to choose him for peeta, i’ll be happy with their decision
