The Hunger Games recognised as one of the greatest movie events of the year
The Hunger Games has come in at number 6 on Total Film‘s list of the 50 Greatest Movie Events of 2012 So Far.
In looking at the great moments, game changes and developments in cinema for the first half of 2012, The Hunger Games has been recognised for its commendable contribution to teen cinema:
Teen Cinema Comes Of Age
The Event: After the ongoing non-event that is the Twilight Saga, Gary Ross’s adaptation of The Hunger Games was a welcome reminder that cinema aimed at young adults can be both invigorating and exciting. Jennifer Lawrence certainly played her part in that, proving that her Oscar-nommed turn inWinter’s Bone was no fluke.
Future Implications: We’d like to say that the rest of the series will be sure to live up to the standards set by this opening instalment, but with Ross having left over the studio’s tight filming deadline (Catching Fire is due for release as soon as next year), we’ve got our reservations…

What on earth were items 1 through 5…if THG was in 6th position? For the first 1/2 of 2012, what was better than THG?
Also, THG is WAY more than a teen cinema flick. It is a statement on reality TV, our government with its partisanship, and quite possibly our future if we don’t get the messages within!
i heard one through six had some twilight stuff in it idk wich one i never wathced anyof them ..but i dont knwo about the others ill look it up

Sorry, but curious. How can a loud, special effects movie that made money beat the story line of The Hunger Games? How does one compare the values and gut-wrenching story of THG with Marval Comics characters?
Love to hear the justifications on this.

They are both good movies. But considering that they have been working on the Avengers storyline for YEARS im pretty sure Avengers gets more of an edge. People can love them both….step off
Actually I think the Avengers was boring and lame. Eveybody was laughing while i just watched the movie, i didn’t see how it was funny. In my opinion it’s one of the worst movies i’ve ever seen.
I thing hunger games had a better story line but action\comedy would go to the avengers in my opinion
