Woody Harrelson, Lenny Kravitz, and Stanley Tucci considered for The Hunger Games
While Elizabeth Banks might have been confirmed today as taking on the role of Effie Trinket in the upcoming The Hunger Games movie, there’s a new round of rumors about who else will be joining the cast.
The Vulture says they’ve heard that offers have gone out to a number of talented actors most notably Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci and Lenny Kravitz. Vulture says Harrelson’s been offered the role of Head Gamemaker, Seneca Crane, of the 74th Hunger Games.
They go onto report:
Also said to be receiving Hunger Games offers: Stanley Tucci and Lenny Kravitz, though exactly which roles they’ve been offered is, for now, still unclear. One can imagine that after starring as the aesthetically obsessed art director Nigel in The Devil Wears Prada, Tucci would make for an excellent Cinna; then again, he’s so imperious, Tucci could be a great President Snow, too. And as to Kravitz’s involvement, we’re at a loss, but we’ll keep you posted.
Personally I think collider.com is more on the money. Of Tucci and Kravitz being considered for roles in The Hunger Games they say:
The stylist Cinna is pretty much a younger version of Tucci’s character in The Devil Wears Prada, but Tucci is too old to play the character as written. I think he’d make a great Caeser Flickerman, the flamboyant yet canny television interviewer. Perhaps you’d prefer to see Tucci play the reptilian villain President Snow. Hell, Tucci would make a great Haymitch if things don’t work out with Reilly. Wherever they plug him in, Tucci is a great addition.
Kravitz is also a viable contender for Cinna, I suppose. But I picture him as fellow stylist Flavius, “a man with orange corkscrew locks who wears purple lipstick.” That was Kravitz’s go-to style in 1997.
So what do you think? I think Harrelson would make a brilliant Seneca Crane or President Snow. We’d love to hear how you see any of these actors in the movie.
I think I like Tucci for Caesar. I imagine Cristoph Waltz as President Snow… He would be perfect, especially after seeing him in Inglorious Bastards. No one else fits for me once this connection was made. Harrelson would do alright as Seneca, although I always pictured him as more… hulking.
I never thought of Tucci for Pres Snow, but now that I think about it, what a great role it would be for him! but he has the talent to play the personality for Caeser too. putting him somewhere in this film would be a fantastic addition!
And of COURSE! if harrelson can be a zombie killer, he can be a head gamemaker too <3

.. The only sad part is, he dies, so yeh, that sucks, otherwise.. I’m all for it

The guy who played Castor in Tron:The Legacy (his name is Micheal Sheen) would be an AMAZING President Snow, in my opinion.
i so agree with katnisspeeta dont judge until the movie comes out……………………wow but now that i think about it i can see tucci for either ceasar or pres snow. i wonder who will be cato.
I think Tucci Should play Cinna because they need an older and wiser person. Cinna makes a lot of great decisons in Katniss’s Life and he does such a great job in whatever they play him in. Kravitz would be a perfect Flavius or something of that matter. I really dont mind who is picked i just want the film to be phonomenal (:

Artemis, my mom said that he could be one of the people from the capitol, as well as gem from tron legacy, they do resemble capitol people alot.
katnisspeeta. knock it off, we all know ur opinion, the only reason lionsgate is still alive is because they make great movies, not because of casting, and gay-ry ross and the terrible casting director dont represent the entire company, so dont say it like they do. he was just hired for the movie.
Right. Suzanne Collins would agree with all the casting so far just because Gary Ross casted. Like I said, you cant judge until you see the movie.
And lets face it, what movie has ever been better than the book? Especially The Hunger Games. Who knows? We may be pleasantly surprised.
no movie has been better than the book, but not all movies are adaptations of books, some are original films or only loosely based on a novel, and im pretty sure this is one of lionsgates first real novel adaptation [kick-ass doesnt count].
As long as Tucci is in this movie im happy!!! i could absolutely see him as Caeser or Snow!!!!!
JAMES CROMWELL FOR PRES. SNOW
I have to reiterate the news articles. Stanley Tucci is an awesome actor, and although I never thought about it, he could make a great Pres. Snow, Caesar Flickerman, or even Cinna (although I initially pictured someone younger). I just want to seem him in it somewhere. Harrelson works as Seneca Crane for sure, but I am very puzzled by Lenny Kravitz. I DO NOT want to see him as Cinna, however. That just seems wrong.

i have been telling everyone that will listen to me that James Cromwell would make the best President Snow. When reading the books i just kept envisioning a creepy version of him for the part. i cant shake it and it makes me happy at least one person out there can see the light!
