The Hunger Games – one of the best novels of the century
We love The Hunger Games and we know millions of other people all around the world also love it. The books, by Suzanne Collins have sat on top of the bookseller lists for weeks at a time. And in recognition of that, Broadwayworld.com has revealed that The Hunger Games along with other huge titles including Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, have been voted as one of the best novels of this century and the last.
The poll, which began in November, asked readers to rate their favorite short fiction stories and novels of the past two centuries (seems funny to be able to say that). Six-hundred-twenty-five people responded to the best novels/short stories poll. People voting for the best books and short stories were given 10 votes to rate the 20th century stories of their choice and five for the ones from the 21st century.
Frank Herbert’s “Dune” landed on the best book list for the 20th century in the SciFi category. “Lord of the Rings” won in the fantasy category of the 20th century. Suzanne Collins’ “The Hunger Games” placed 7th in the 21st century SciFi category (“Old Man’s War” by John Scalzi took first.) Neil Gaiman’s “American Gods” won for best 21st century fantasy novel.
