Catching Fire Fan Movie Poster Hunger Games

It’s the story we’re all waiting to hear – just who is going to be cast in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.  The biggest speculation surrounds the role of District 4 tribute, Finnick Odair.  The rumors have been working over time. Just the other day Taylor Kitsch ruled himself out of playing Finnick in Catching Fire, while E! News has put Armie Hammer as the front runner.

But LA  Times has gone straight to the source.  They caught up with producer Nina Jacobson on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night.

She told them that all of the whispers are  ”so not true.”

“That’s the thing that’s crazy — people are like way ahead of where we are,” Nina Jacobson told us on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday. “We’ve not narrowed things down by any means. It’s funny to see how things can take on a life of their own.”

They then went on to ask Nina if filmmakers take any fan input into account when they think about just who should play Finnick Odair.  She says “not entirely”:

“It means something that people can see [an actor] in that light, so you know [the actor] will be accepted by a lot of people, on the one hand,” she said. “On the other hand, you have to kind of ignore it. You have to just sort of act like you’re sitting in a room and you want to just pick the person who gives the best audition and looks and feels most like the part.”

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

  2. Jazzmine says:

Chris Hemsworth should not play Finnick! I think he’s an amazing actor but I picture Finnick looking a like less “rough” and a little more of a “boyish charm”

I’m still hoping for an unknown so everyone can come to the movie with no preconceptions.

You can stop with the language first of all. And maybe they don’t care maybe they do. You wouldn’t even know. Your just another jelous body of not being able to be in a movie. Jelous of Josh Jen and many other people in the movie. So what they don’t care about or opinions we say them to see if they will do what we ask or change their mind. I would really hope you have a change of atitude and just live a little and have fun with life.

We’re all fans of the same exact book sharing our personal opinions and ideas. Some will have similar opnions and others will have completely different ones. Just because one opinion is different from yours doesn’t make it wrong. What I’m trying to say is I don’t see why sharing opinions has to start a fight. Can’t we all be accepting of others’ opinions and not attack them for having a different one?

    Back on topic:
While I have my own Finnick in mind, I’m not worrying about who they cast for Finnick because I have a lot of trust in them as they did an outstanding job on picking the perfect cast for The Hunger Games. I can’t wait to know the final casting, but I can rest assured that they will pick the best Finnick where ever he is.
