The Sam Claflin Finnick Odair Rumors Hot Up
Gossip Cop says it has the exclusive scoop, that Sam Claflin will definitely be Finnick Odair in Catching Fire. This is a pretty firm source as their site is all about busting rumors and false news.
Sam Claflin will play Finnick Odair in Catching Fire, a source confirms exclusively to Gossip Cop.
The actor recently emerged as the frontrunner for the role in The Hunger Games sequel, and Gossip Cop has learned Lionsgate will make it official in an announcement in the near future.
As soon as Lionsgate does make it official, you can be sure we’ll have it here ASAP! Hopefully we’ll get some casting news from there real soon.

Well he’s not so bad, I’m just happy they didn’t pick Zac Efron or Alex Pettyfier that so many people (for some reason) wanted.

he isn’t anything like Finnick Odair and there were other great actors who would have at least fit the profile! i don’t want to see him shirtless and Finnick is shirtless most of the book!chris hemsworth would have been a much better choice.
But Chris Hemsworth and Liam Hemsworth look almost identical… it’ll be like “Gale why do you look like Finnick?” “That would be because we’re brothers… in real life” xD
Once they dye his hair, he will look much more like Finnick. And Chris Hemswroth would have sucked in the roll of Finnick. Thats like saying “Hey Liam, you get to be Gale and Finnick.” So therefore you are wrong. Sam is a good choice for Finnick and is also a great actor.
He will have to be Americanized. A full facial. Some tanning and some serious buffing up to do. Because honestly, this guy looks too plain to be Finnick.

agreed i think he will be amazing and i think he realy does fit the part of finnick he is hot! and i think he has a very deep gawjuss look about him he will be perfect for finnick.
Definately needs buffing up. Haven’t seen any of his movies, so no idea whether he can act. He’s not drop dead gorgeous, as I thought Finnick should be, but not bad though. They could have picked a lot worse!

Actually it says they are in the ruins of NORTH AMERICA, which is different from the U.S., as North America is the continent which ALSO includes Mexico and Canada. Get your facts straight before calling people dummies.

He will most definitely be asked to adopt an American accent, which I’m sure he will have no problem with– he seems like a pretty versatile actor. Liam’s American accent is so spot-on, you would never know he was from Australia.
It’s actually brought up a lot in the books that Panem was formed out of the ruins in North America. Which U.S. states are included, or whether Canada or Mexico are also a part of Panem, is never really specified. But I think the first time Katniss mentions it is when she’s describing what she learned in school about the history of Panem. She also says that District 12 is in a region that used to be known as Appalachia, which is a mountainous region in the eastern United States.
Actually, it is NOT in ANY of the pages of the actual book(s) that Panem is anything more than a place.
If you bought the first hardcover book, the inside of the paper jacket indicates the following:
‘In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts.’
No indication of who wrote the inside jacket cover
Not going to bother to go through the entire book to check this, but I am pretty certain that Collins would not allow Panem to suddenly appear in North America for no reason, and it all fits into North America. xD
Movie Effie was originally going to have a British accent. Would that have been a problem?
i didnt have a problem with liams australlian accent because id seen him use american accents in other movies and he didnt use one in the hunger games. but i havent seen sam claflin use any yet. i was just curious to see if they would keep his britsh accent in the movie even though finnick doesnt have any capitol accents or anything. i think most likeley they will have him use an american accent for the movie. also, i am pretty sure that all the districts are in north america and i think parts of canada. as for parts of mexico, they cease to exist as those areas are suppoused to be covered in water.
I’m fine with the idea. They’ve done a great job with casting so far and I have to believe that they will for this role as well.
As for his looks please keep in mind everyone has a different idea about what is or is not attractive.

Totally not what I imagined Finnick to look like. I imagined a fit and tan man in his thirties with light brown hair and huge blue-green cat eyes with dark thick eyelashes. But, I really like this actor so I think he will do a good job living up to the role. Looks isn’t the only thing that plays into the actor/character choice anyways…

He’s 5’11″. Peeta however, isn’t 5’7″ in the books but Josh says he is 5’7″. I don’t think Katniss is 5’9″ in the books but Jennifer is.
Jennifer Lawrence is 5’7″. I think the heights work out nicely, with Sam being much taller than both Josh and Jen.
Hmmm. If she is actually 5’7″ then Josh is not. When they stand side by side, she is at least an inch taller.

it says she is 5’9″. If you look up her modeling career info, she was picked when she was 14 because she was 5’9″ and stunning at 14.
This dude is attractive in his own right, can act, and if you watch his interviews he has a likable quality. I love this casting choice.
I seriously hope Kristen Bell gets to have a little role in this movie. Maybe she could play a morph? That would be fun for fans and her. You know?
I think he is a PERFECT Finnick. He has his hair and he IS OLDER THAN KATNISS! He looks handsome but not what Katniss wants Hahaha. And it doesnt matter about the Looks EVERYONE! They can always do alterations to him like they did to Elizabeth.

Everyone is sitting here discussing whether or not we like him as Finnick as if Lionsgate has released he is going to be Finnick. No one has said anything people. I am going to keep an open mind and clear head until Lionsgate says who is going to be who. Other than that it’s just a bunch of fuss over a definite maybe.

Well it’s official..! For those of u who havent received the news yet .. This is finnick…..! So if u like him, great if ur not so sure we have to wait for the movie ….. Hope he doesn’t disappoint me !
I love how people are judging Sam based off of this single picture alone. Y’all keep saying “He needs to be Americanized” um, hello.. Liam is Australian, so you can’t really hate on Sam just because he’s English. He was great in the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie and also in Snow White and the Huntsman. And if this picture doesn’t satify you because it’s in black and white, go look him up for crying out loud instead of complaining. His eyes ARE blue/green, all he needs is a little tan. And they can easily dye his hair blond, just like they did to Josh. Stop freaking out and give the guy a chance. I think he’ll be a great Finnick.
Sorry. Finnick’s hair is supposed to be BRONZE. Sam won’t need anything beyond some sun streaked highlights.
