that is just wrong!!!…..amandla was perfect for rue!……i was soo happy about her casting she’s exactly what they described in the books….a dark skinned little cute girl with huge eyes!!…..THATS EXACTLY WHAT THEY GIVE US!!!!……..so i have no idea why people are complaing that shes black!….thats how they described rue….so why would anyone complain about rue!

People are pissed because there is SO much whitewashing in our media that even when a book SPECIFICALLY states that a character has dark brown skin, people will gloss over it and see what they wanna see, i.e. whiteness. People are so indoctrinated that they envision in there minds “cute little girl” and automatically think Caucasian blonde girl. It’s sick. So wrong that people honestly will be effected so much because a character is not the race that they’ve come to expect for EVERYTHING. Even if it’s perfectly in line with the book. I pictured Cinna white, but the book didn’t specify and Lenny Kravitz was awesome!! Society needs to get passed this. Soon.

Wow, I didn’t know that some people had a problem with terrific people and amazing acting.
I want to slap that specific page in their faces and ask them if they read the book properly.
OMG. OK that is wrong. rue is my favourite character and she was obviously going to be black, cause she is in the book. and Amandla Stenberg was absolutly amazing. she is exactly how i imagined rue. if those people are too prejudiced too see that amandla, dayo and lenny were probably the best actors in the movie, then those arse holes need to go and live in a cave where they can’t say nasty things.

Amen to your video Kaleb! Amandla Stenberg was AMAZING as Rue, I even cried when she died, even thought the audience didn’t have very much time to get to know her.
In the books it CLEARLY describes Rue as dark skinned with dark eyes. These people who are hating on Amandla, Dayo, and Lenny should go back in the books and READ.
Though the books did not describe Cinna as “black” who really cares if a “black” man was cast for him!? Lenny was totally believable as Cinna and I loved him right away just as i did in the books.
Now as for Thresh the books did describe him as dark skinned and having the same appearance as Rue. He didn’t get so much hate as Amandla, but I just want to say…
I love Rue and Amandla. I love Dayo and Thresh. And I love Lenny and Cinna.

I cannot believe this is even an issue. WHY WHY WHY! Am I missing something here? Sure when I read the books I saw Cinna as white. I was surprised at the casting. But I’m not upset or angry over it.
Stupid people don’t know how to read and understand a book…Rue should be black it is in the book as for cinna i don’t care if he’s black just as long as he did the role properly which they did….Way to go you two!…
That was how rue was supposed to be in the book. She was supposed to be dark skinned. If you don’t want to follow the book, then make Rue white. I think it was a great casting choice.

@KEE: IKR! What happens if one of those people need an immediate surgery and they are going to die if they don’t get it and the doctor is black? Would they rather get the surgery or die? That’s what i wonder.

I love Rue! She’s so adorable! I can’t believe people are complaining just because she’s black. Really sad. Amanda was an amazing actress. When I read The Hunger Game’s, I pictured Rue looking like her.

That is nuts! Amandla was perfect for that role! Have any of those people read the Hunger Games? It says that Rue has dark skin and hair. People need to pay attention to details! I have heard about people who were doing the same thing with Rue. Also Thresh and Cinna. The book said Thresh had the same dark skin and hair as Rue. As for Cinna Suzzanne Collins never totally said what he looks like. He was probably the best one who auditioned. People are jerks.
