VIDEO: Willow Shields Wants You For The Water Games
“In the movie, Katniss stands up for my character Prim. You can take a stand too.”
The Hunger Games‘ adorable starlet Willow Shields has shown her support for the charitable organization, The Water Games from DoSomething.org.
Did you know that every 19 seconds a child dies from lack of cleaning water? But you can help end this tragedy. From now until April 13, teens are putting their legs to the test and walking for water, as part of DoSomething.org’s Water Games, Walk for Africa campaign. By organizing water walks in their communities, participants are building awareness around the need for clean water in developing parts of the world. If at least 15,000 young people walk the walk, a well will get built in Swaziland, Africa thanks to The Thirst Project.
There are five water walk categories. The Katniss Walk revolves around how many people your team can get signed up with DoSomething.org. The group that has the most visual impact will win the Cinna Walk. Whoever promotes the walk the best in their community will take home the prize for the Peeta Walk. The Gale Walk is all about who walks the farthest — obvs. And, the team that incorporates an adult in the most creative way will rule the Haymitch Walk. But make sure your adult has, um, better balance than Haymitch. Plus, anyone who invites at least five friends to participate is eligible for a $2,000 scholarship. No matter which way you slice or dice it, everyone who plays this game wins.
