Who should play Finnick Odair in Catching Fire
The most commented on post in the whole of this site would have to be the Hunger Games Movie cast suggestions. A HUGE number of fans have made suggestions for who they think should play Finnick Odair, despite the fact that we don’t meet Finnick until Catching Fire. So it’s no surprise that with the announcement that Catching Fire will be made and even has a release date for November 2013, that attention has turned to just who will be in The Hunger Games sequel.

What we know about Finnick Odair
Finnick Odair is the male tribute from District 4 who won the 65th Hunger Games at the age of 14. During those Games he was sent a trident, which might have been one of the most expensive gifts ever given in the Games. He excelled at using the trident as a weapon and with his skill for making nets, he would trap his opponents and then kill them.
He was also a mentor for the District 4 tributes during the 74th Hunger Games and took part in the 3rd Quarter Quell during which he was part of an alliance with Peeta, Katniss, Wiress, Beetee, Johanna Mason and his previous mentor, Mags.
He’s described as being tall, muscular and athletic, with golden skin, bronze-colored hair, and seafoam green eyes. Katniss puts his success down to a combination of his physical skill and unprecedented popularity among the Capitol.
His one and only true love is Annie Cresta, the 70th Hunger Games victor who went insane when her partner tribute got beheaded in the Games.

I think Benjamin Stone would be fitting in some ways. He is very good looking that is for sure and has the cockiness that Finnick has (atleast in the current TV show he is in) Alex P. is ok…but I am not sure he could play broken in the later movies.

For anyone who can do the math…Finnick won the 65th games when he was 14. Nine years later would make him 23. When he is in the 75th he would be 24, Which is the exact age of Benjamin Stone.
If Finnick were older…I would choose Ryan Reynolds. But he isn’t. He isn’t much older than Katniss and Peeta himself, which makes his life so much sadder if you think about how he has been made a prostitute for all intents and purposes by the Capitol.

I actually agree with the Zach Efron Idea…. When reading the book I imagine Finnick as sort of “pretty” not crazy sexy like Chris Pine or Alex Pettyfer. I was even thinking a much over looked but AMAZING actor Emile Hirsch or Chace Crawford. They all could pull off the arrogance and beauty of Finnick.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who pictured Kellan Lutz. I don’t mean to stir up more Hunger Games/Twilight controversy but Kellan Lutz is the only person I would choose. He has a certain “swagger” about him (A swagger that would lead to relations to ANYONE in the Capitol). He is gorgeous. He oozes sexuality and cockiness. He’s muscular. The only problem I could see is his fragile state in the last book… I don’t know how well he could portray that. Hmm. Alex Pettyfer is nothing like the Finnick I imagined. Too thin, too foreign.

Wow, I can’t believe I’m one of the only people on here that is totally pro Hunter Parrish! The whole time I read ‘Catching Fire’ and ‘Mockingjay’ I imagined Hunter Parrish. People tend to want an actor to be exactly as they are portrayed in the book; that’s what dye and contact lenses are for. Jennifer Lawrence was platinum, and they fixed that right up. I think Parrish would do an excellent job as Finnick; not overly masculine and not too feminine in stature; also has the flirty appeal that Finnick has in the book(s). Not to mention I think he’d also do a great job with the ‘crazed’ Finnick we see in ‘Mockingjay’. Just because some actors aren’t as established as others doesn’t mean they can’t act. Nobody will ever agree, but then again .. everyone processes literature differently. Note: If Robert Pattinson would be cast as Finnick, I’d break every glass object in my apartment.

Umm, all of these people are to young to play Finnick because he is supposed to be a bit older than Katniss and Peeta.
Matt Bomer – he has the PERFECT eyes!! and he’s gorgeous!
First off, Alex Pettyfer cannot act. He may be pretty but he would never really bring Finnick to life. He also has a pretty bad on-set reputation.
While Zac Efron could probably do a good job when you look at Zac Efron in movie you see Zac Efron more than whatever character he’s playing.
I think Taylor Kitsch is perfect. With a few tweaks he looks exactly how I pictured Finnick and was amazing in Friday Night Lights. He’s also 30. Finnick is 24 but since the other actors are older than their age whoever they cast as Finnick will have to be as well to look older than Jennifer Lawrence.
I think Grant Gustin would make an awesome Finnick. He’s still a relative unknown (i KNOW he was on glee but for not very many episodes). I heard somewhere that he’d make a good Finnick and ever since, when i read the books again he’s what comes to mind!

As good looking as Chris Pine is, he’s too old. Everybody complained at first that Jennifer Lawrence was too old to play Katniss and she was 4 years older than the character when they started. Finnick is supposed to be 24, and Chris Pine is almost 10 years older. I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but I imagined Alex Pettyfer the second Finnick appeared in the book. But maybe with his hair just a tad darker. Hopefully Francis Lawrence has as good a sense for the characters as Gary Ross did, and they’ll find the right guy!

Benjamin stone is cute but that accent would not be right and finnick has no accent whatsoever! I think that Alex Would be better for finnick!

Honestly all those people that everyone are saying are awesome but wouldn’t they want a actor thats not well known… For everyones sake put benjamin stone. When I first read the book I was trying to figure out who would be the perfect finnick odair.. So I went on a website and look up actors then I remembered this guy that was really only known for two things was a picture perfect for finnick. Maybe he doesn’t have sea green eyes or even bronze colored hair but If you watched 10 things I hate about you or even Nine lives of chloe king. Robert Pattinson would be a TERRIBLE Finnick. Plus, it wouldn’t be fair since he’s already the star of the biggest competing movie franchise. I wish Landon Liboiron could be Finnick! I’m not sure how his acting skills would pan out in the arena, but he is for sure fine as hell! And exactly how I pictured Finnick.
Even though Benjamin Stone has brown eyes, his acting is amazing and will make your heart melt as Finnick. Alex Pettyefer is definetly my second choice, I have seen him in other movies and he plays the serious, mysterious person well. Benjamin though, can be serious, sexy, fun going, and lovable all at the same time. I believe he will be the bedst choice for the Hunger Games cast.
